1990 iroc z project
I bought a 1990 Iroc Z about a year ago for $1200 80,000 miles 5.7 g92. What do you all think I should do with it? I'll try to post more pics this weekend. The original rims are back on the car now. Unmolested everthing is still there including original exhaust. Runs good 14.2 1/4 mile no leaks.

Well, it all depends on how original you want to keep it? The car looks like it is in good shape, if you want to keep it original I would clean it up real nice and maybe tint the windows. Otherwise tint windows, drop it closer to the ground, get cowl induction hood, and fog lights are always good also.

Re: 1990 iroc z project
damn great deal if you ask me
i was just looking for one thats been sitting 4 a year or so with overheating issues and a crap fuel pump and he wants 2grand!
anywho thats a badass car, wish i had it. i would most definitely try to keep her original with only a few mods.
just *drop it, *tint, *tune it up and make it run smoooooth.
the whole stripe package looks killer. maybe ad some *black c5 zo6 rims those would look sick.
take care of it.

Re: 1990 iroc z project
I wasn't looking for a car at the time but when I heard about it and researched it a little I decided to scoop it up. It had been sitting since 2005 or so, the front brakes were locked up, the battery was dead but it would start and run for a few minutes off of a jump and then die. I bought it without ever driving it or knowing what problems it would have. Had it towed home.I figured if I had problems with the motor I would swap it for a more powerful one and use it as a street strip car instead of, or along with my Nova. A battery, brake hoses, calipers, sway bar endlinks, belt and fog lamp bulb got it through inspection. It's been on the road ever since. I like the originality and performance of the car.The car has a nice balance of everything (power, handling, decent fuel economy). I will keep it as original as it allows. The Iroc was sitting under a tree and was extermely dirty. The paint is shot and there is plenty of sun damage. I've thought about tinting the windows, lowering it and paint. Can you tint the windows with a rear window defroster or does it create problems? I'll have to read up on lowering the Iroc I know nothing. I used to have a 4 cylinder third gen forgot what year what a turd paid more for it than the Iroc now I kind of wished I still had it traded it on a ford. The Iroc is a keeper. If I get the car painted will they be able to get all the striping back on? Is the pin striping original? and what were the striping options for the year? thanks for the replies and thanks tgo.

Re: 1990 iroc z project
In the last year and a half I've had to do a few things to the car to keep it road worthy. I replaced the water pump, it was making noises. The car started missing and running rough so I replaced the injectors and it started running good again what a relief. A couple weeks after replacing the injectors, I was going to take a friend for a ride to show him how good it was running. While warming it up it died in my driveway and would not start again. I actually felt good that it died in the driveway and not on the road (saved me a tow). Twenty four hours later after trouble shooting I replaced the pickup coil and was up and running again. The odometer is getting ready to hit 84,000 miles and I have no regrets about buying this car. I would like to treat the car to some new paint because the original paint is shot but at the same time it can only be original once. I would like some input: What to do with the paint? How much to spend on it? I would also like to know how much changing parts on the car such as water pump, injectors, exhaust, paint etc effects the originality and value of our cars?
