How much did your thirdgen cost new?
I just want to hear people's answers...
Mine cost $12,552. It is a lightly optioned '85 Z28, with only just over 3 and 1/2 lines of RPO codes.
How about your third gen?
Do you maybe have the most expensive third gen, or the cheapest?

WOW! I didn't expect THAT! The original buyer sure was cheap when checking the option boxes on my car!

My '82 Trans Am is loaded with options and cost around $15,500.
My '84 Trans Am is also fairly loaded and was around $14,500.
My '84 Trans Am parts car is a very low option car. It has T-Tops, deluxe interior, tilt column, delay wipers, power antenna, rear defrost, and rear cargo shade. I'm guessing it cost a little over $11,000.

1987 IROC-Z - $21,229.
Chris,
Can I see a copy of your windowsticker and compare it to mine? I had no idea that your IROC-Z was that loaded. I knew it was close to mine, but it's almost dead on.

Original owner of three:
1982 Z28 LG4/Auto/T-Tops/Black/Silver-Grey Custom Cloth Int. = $13,140.26 (sold it in 1983)
1983 Z28 L69/Manual/T-Tops/Black/Charcoal Custom Cloth Int. = $14,473.00 (stolen in 1986)
1987 Formula LB9/Manual/T-Tops/Black/Medium Dark Grey Deluxe Cloth Int. = $16,425.00 (still have it)
Edit: Those are not dealer invoice prices, they're actual, true window sticker prices(no infamous dealer "add ons" to jack-up the price). And the price I actually paid for each was less.

Re: How much did your thirdgen cost new?
1989 GTA optioned with Y11 and R6A invoice msrp $21,723, Inv Amt $19,641.47, and $22,430 according to the original bill of sale.
I dont have the original bills of sale or window stickers for my TTA's but here's whats on the invoices:
1989 TTA #124 CC1 invoice msrp $21,382 and Inv Amt $25,854.83
1989 TTA #850 R6A invoice msrp $21,423 and Inv Amt $18,088.72
1989 TTA #884 no options invoice msrp $20,578 and Inv Amt $18,449.83
TTA's were charged an additional $9,260 to the dealers inv amt for the PAS Conversion (RPO 9D0) bringing the actual prices to $30,642 for #124, $30,683 for #850, and $29,838 for #884. TTA #124 is a Festival car so whichever GM employee bought the car new got quite a deal at $25,854.83 saving almost $5,000.

Re: How much did your thirdgen cost new?
Darren, the cost of mine is on the original warranty contract. I have lots of original paperwork that came with my car, including dealership service records. Point being, if you could find out the dealership that sold it...
I'm surprised at the cost of some of these cars. So far, mine is the cheapest... so someone should post the cost of their cheaper car!

Re: How much did your thirdgen cost new?
Is there any website or way I could look up what mine would have cost new? I am going to try to do a little research on it in the morning I'll let you know what I find. I am curious myself even though it is just a 1992 RS 305 TBI 5 speed, it is a 25th anniversary tho. This is
My first thirdgen so I'd like to learn a little more about it. I'll see what I can find...

Re: How much did your thirdgen cost new?
Darren, I don't think any website could tell you how much your car would have cost, there are too many variables, such as year, options, and even location. But, maybe I'll be surprised.
I'd bet some TGO members could give you a good estimate if you posted up your RPO codes.

Re: How much did your thirdgen cost new?
I thought one of the major value calculators had it, www.nada.com, www.kbb.com, www.edmunds.com but could not find it.
I did find the orignal MSRP at NADA.com, but it was only in the collectible cars section, and that only goes up to 1989 or 1990.
Technically if you found your original base price and got the Firebird Red book or the Camaro White book you could add up all of the options on your car to get pretty close to what it was new.
Unfortunately there were option packages that reduced the price, so if you had an package price and added up the individual options the individual options should have been more than a package.
