How many Heritage car in 92"
I wanted to know the breakdown on how many heritage cars where made in the black with red stripes. I see alot of red with black stripes and a few white with red. I am sure purple and silver is the rarest.
Anyone know the total number then the breakdown. The more info the better. Thanks guys.

I think the green with gold stripes may have been more rare than the purple with silver stripes. At least in my area there were more purple/silver than green/gold.

I am not sure if they made any Blue/Silver cars, but it would not be a stretch if they made the Purple/Silver cars, why not put silver on a Blue car? Actually I think it would look pretty sharp...

According to the White book they made 8197... Funny think it was a $175.00 option, and they tend to really outsell a non ZO3 car...

I am quite sure they didn't offer blue/silver. The purple/silver and green/gold combo's were a mid year special program.

I would bet the stripes were added later.

By default, when replying to an existing thread, you must manually select the "show your signature" option to post your signature. When creating a new thread, your signature will automatically display if you have one. You appear to have one already set, but didn't manually select it to display in your post above.

Your car looks sharp! I know better than to say it couldn't be factory, but I would want the ordering paperwork to back it up if I was going to try to prove it. Originally I wanted a black 92 with silver stripes.......Chevrolet/GM said NO!

No blue/silver from the factory. Look for Z03 in your RPO list. I'm positive it isn't there. If it is, then the car was repainted from another color and that too can be found on the RPO sheet.

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
Although theres no way to know for sure, After 3-4 years of observing classified ads on Ebay, Autotrader, Cars.com, etc. I have a decent idea of the most popular heritage combos
Most Popular (in order from Most to Least):
1.White/Red
2.Red/Black
3.Black/Red
4.Purple/Silver
5.Green/Gold
The only thing that may be debatable is #2 and #3...But for the most part I've seen more Red/Blacks than Black/Reds...Its close though...

I agree I have seen the same thing. On ebay right now there are like 3 red/black. And I have only seen in pics 3-4 black/reds ever.
I got one more question on your black/red car what color was the interor and the wheels and the emblems? B/C I have seen red emblems and I have seen silver?!?
I don't think GM keeped track of all the different builds cuz I went my vin and pics to gm (restore department) and they send me a ton of info but a said mine could be one of or not. They don't know!

The interior in my car is black. The emblems on the back of the car (Tuned Port Injection and Z28) always correspond to the stripe color (I believe) whereas the emblems on the rocker panels correspond to the wheel color in most cases. My wheels have "grey" accents and silver rocker panel emblems. My White/Red Heritage RS had white wheel accents and red rocker panel emblems. It's really weird how some wheel colors changed the colors of the rocker panel emblems and some didn't. For example, I've seen Black/Red heritages with red wheels that have red rocker panel emblems, etc. There doesn't seem to be alot of logic to the whole thing...

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
I am going to take a huge guess here and say. ZO3 Heritage stripe color needs to match the rear bumper emblems. And I think the wheels match the side emblems?!?
Now who knows what RPO code says what color rims a car had?

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
Geeez i didnt even know all those color optiones were available, the only ones i have ever seen (in person) were white/red. although when i was little there was a guy down the street who had a purple/silver Z28 5 spd. (cuz i used to listen to him bang gear almost daily), but then he changed the stripes to yellow.............yea i dunno about that.

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
It sure would be great if GM would have kept a record of all the heritage cars. At least the number of RS and Z28 cars with and without convertible.
I would like to know how many purple haze heritage Z28 5-speed convertibles were made. Does anyone have any idea?

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
I am pretty sure Chevrolet never thought twice about keeping records of such things. The problem is the amount of information that would be necessary to keep track of it would take a small book. Lets do a hypothetical:
If you have 5 colors,
Red, Black, White, Blue & Purple
6 Body Styles
RS coupe, RS Convertible RS T-top, Z28 Coupe, Z28 T-top and Z28 Vert
Then you add to that the available options estimate that there are 20 options:
Power Windows, Power Locks, Cruise Control, intermitant wipers, 3 Radios, 4 Rear end axels, 4 Engines, Power seats, 3 different interior colors, etc...
You could potentially have 1000 combinations... It would be less than that because obviously there were patterns to orders, and what they ordered with cirtain cars. Poentially there could be as many combinations as there are cars for any given year.
The list would look like this:
3 Purple Haze RS Convertibles, Heritage, Power Windows, Power locks, cruise control, gray interior.
2 Purple Haze RS Convertibles, Heritage, Power Windows, cruise control, gray interior, V8.
14 RS Convertibles, Heritage, Power locks, cruise control, gray interior.
RS Convertibles, Heritage, cruise control, gray interior, V8.
10 Purple Haze, RS Convertibles, Heritage, Power Windows, Power locks, cruise control, Black interior, V8.
5 Purple Haze, RS Convertibles, Heritage, Power Windows, Power locks, cruise control, gray interior, V6.
As it is there are 30 lines of text spelling out each option, if they did a breakout of each possible comination you would end up with a total of 1000 lines, it samves ink and time not to combine options.
The COOL thing is with the advent of computers they could potentially keep track of the cars in such a way. It would be a one by one but you could call up GM and get an idea of how many were made. It would never be published in a book however...

Was there not a few white\black Z28 heritage striped cars made? I could have sworn I have talked to someone who had one.

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
There is a white/black in a gm high tec book I still have it.
It says 92 RS L98 BC4 with a 6speed, black lace wheels, increased runners w/match machined intake.
602 where going to be made (same as the z/28 in 1967) but only 2 where made this one and a $28,000 25th code Z4F on a RS. With trick cam.a one-of-a-kind intake, one of tube headers,3"exhaust,and ported corvette heads.
hands down the rarest 3rd gen! But who knows as GM has one of cars locked away!

Re: How many Heritage car in 92"
I suspect that the Heritage edition started out as a competitor to the Firehawk, and was going to be a similar production package where an outsourced company (such as SLP) was going to modify the cars. In the end so few Firehawks were ordered that Chevy probably realized that it was a money pit and would not pay itself back for the investment. In the end Chevy never got the supercar like a TTA or Firehawk but they settled on a sticker package.

Explains my white "Heritage" with black stripes.
Currently has 93k+ miles on it, hasn't been driven for five years. L98, 4 wheel disks, rear louvers, 16' wheels, paint going to hell from sitting....
Thinking of trading it for a 1970 El Camino if the guy want's to trade.
Any SERIOUS offers on the B4C? Have 18 cars, time to cut back!
