I have a Firebird headlight bezel question.

What is the difference between the 82-84 and 85-90 headlight bezels? I have an 83 but the 82-84 bezels are no longer available, however the 85-90s are. Does anyone have a close up pic of the 85-90 headlight bezel?

My headlight bezels are in bad shape and I’m looking for replacements, will the 85-90’s work?

They’re black plastic, so as a last resort I could try to sand and buff mine but they would need a lot of work.

Re: I have a Firebird headlight bezel question.

hmm thats a good Q i always assumed they would all be the same

if someone could part number an 85-up one that would work then you could match to what we have on our cars

i have an 82

i assume color is all that would be different

dunno

hmm

may learn something interesting and new here

g/l !

I thought there were only 2 different ones, were the 82-90 & 91/92 bezels.....

There are 3 different part numbers (6 if you count both sides) 82-84, 85-90 and 91-92. The 91-92s use smaller headlights so I know they wont work.

Re: I have a Firebird headlight bezel question.

I have taken 82 bezels and used them on 87 cars, there may have been a slight tooling change for one reason or another... The 91 & 92 are definately different and will not work. As are the painted covers. I woud have to double check, but I am pretty sure I have done it.

Re: I have a Firebird headlight bezel question.

The bezel has a different curve on the end nearest the fender, where it rests on/near the front bumper.

Here's an 82-84 bezel, and 85-90 bezel. Hard to see in the photo, especially the later one, but thats where the difference is.

Re: I have a Firebird headlight bezel question.

Looking at the pix it appears that the Later style will work on the early style but there might be a little gap... My 83 parts car was slightly smacked on the front end so I might not have original parts.
