82-92 Firebird Parts Book

Hello Yall,

I have an 82 Firebird Trans Am, and I would like to have reference to original GM parts for my car in case I want to search for the part from a dealer or junkyard.

My question is: Does anyone know if an original 82 Parts Book would be better than an 82-92 parts book? I am looking to purchase either an 82 only or an 82-92.

The reason I ask is because this car literature bookseller told me today that the 82-92 parts book would not have all the 82 parts, and that they would only be focusing mainly on years 90, 91, and 92. Is this true? Or was that guy giving me bologny?

And does anyone know anything about the F Body Parts CD 82-92? And is that any good?

I would really appreciate some input..............Thank You

Re: 82-92 Firebird Parts Book

One thing to keep in mind is that the 82-92 book would have updated part numbers.

Re: 82-92 Firebird Parts Book

I have an '82-'83 Parts manual, but I think that some of the part numbers may have been changed, or updated in later years. I'm not sure if the '82-'92 would have every part from 82. I don't know why it wouldn't. If you give an "old" part number, they should be able to cross reference it with a new part number if one exists.

Re: 82-92 Firebird Parts Book

The 82-92 parts book will have all the 1982 part numbers plus the ones for the later models up to 1992. I have an 82 to 89 Firebird parts and illustration book I bought from GM in 1989. Best $30 I ever spent on the car.
