There was an article not too long ago in HPP about an '83 Daytona Firbird that actually served as a pace car. It was in pretty much mint condition. I can't remember how much the person paid for it, but it was a really low price and they said it probably wouldn't go up in vaule too much and their reason was because it was basically an underpowered car at the time, and therefore not as desireable...This was coming from both the owners and the people at the magazine. Lets face it...ever though a car might be considered "rare" to some people, doesn't mean it is worth more. I don't think early thirdgens are a good investment to make money on as they get older.

I looked and could not even find a reference to the Daytona car on NADA. Usually they have special call outs for cars like this.
