Fried 86' Recaro T/A
I was at the junkyard today, and i almost cried. I saw what i believe to be a 1986 Recaro Trans AM with the LB9. It has the recaro seats and correct looking color scheme. Sadly it appears that it has been in a serious fire. Nothing seems to be salvagable. I need to take pics for my personal collection. If i do i will post them. That is the first Recaro T/A i have seen in person, and it was beautiful. So how many 86' Recaro T/As were there?

That is a tragedy....Like most specialy ordered cars nobody knows how many Recaro equiped cars are left.
There is one 86 that belongs to this board.
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ht=1986+Recaro
His seats are exceptional as he proved that the power seat option was indeed a legit addition to the Recaro bucket.
The most famous 86 belongs to Eddie Barra, scroll down on this link, you will see why:

It is to be noted that when somebody mentions rare 3rd Gens, these cars are most often ommited, you can find a ton of TTA's 1LE, etc, but as you can see these cars are indeed rare.

There are no '86 Recaro T/A's made. Those are regular T/A's ordered with factory Recaro seats. And i believe '86 was the last year for Recaro seat option. Real Recaro Edition T/A's were produced between 82-84.

Junkyard Jewel
I was in a boneyard yesterday and found a fairly complete '83 Mecham Trans Am (MSE Edition). Body is pretty good, interior is bad, motor, trans, everthing is there. Power bulge hood with the cold air intake, new quadrajet.
He wanted $400. for the whole car, and the interior is a rats nest. All badging is there, but the car looks like it has been parked outside for a long time. I hate to see it go to the crusher. I took some photos if anyone is interested.

Hey Troy!
So, the complete car was for sale in the Boneyard? Or, someone in the parking lot?
Did it have a number on the center console?
Also, which yard?
Oh ya, where in Lomita are you at?
I just moved from Lomita! Out to sunny Arizona!
Maybe I'll see ya around ( as I still hang out in Lomita every so often (like this coming weekend)!
Later,
George

Recaro seats
I happen to have Recaro buckets in my 86 Trans Am. The car came factory as a red car(can't remember exact paint code off hand), but when I bought it the car had been repainted a dark brown(almost black) with gold color ground effects. Just found that interesting...

Passenger seat is just about mint, drivers seat has two tears on the side. Do you happen to know any production numbers for the Recaro Seat Option in 85 or 86? Didn't know much about TA's when I got my car, but I've been hearing a lot that they are pretty rare. I must say that I do like how they look in my car, comfort is alright, but seems to be hard on the lower back to me at least.

George:
It was car number 61. I don't remember a number on the console, but there was a number 61 on the front fender just behind the front wheel.
It also has MSE on the speedo guage, and badges and stickers all over it.
It is in the junkyard across from the drive-in theater on Vermont, just south of the end of the Artesia freeway in Gardena or Carson (I'm not sure) The yard is on the east side of the street.
If you are interested, let me know and I will get you the address.
Sorry for the delay, but I didn't know that anyone had responded.

I actually happen to have power Recaro seats in my 86, which I didn't know before was so rare. Please go to https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=234401 if you would like to read about my car. Thanks,

Re: Fried 86' Recaro T/A
He said Recaro Trans-am, correct looking color scheme and he asked how many were built. So i wanted to make sure that he knew that they were not "real" Recaro T/A's. And there was no color scheme came with those seats in 85 or 86. They're T/A's ordered with Recaro seats. The only thing significant was the bird on the hood which didn't had anything to do with the seats and saw couple of those without the recaros. I'm not trying to prove anything here. And firehawks didn't had those same recaro's if you want to get into even more detail. They were recaro racing seats without the head rest.
915 made in 86. I have a all red with RECARO interior and uq7 audio and a bunch of other fun things. Also have an 85 h.o
