85 Camaro V6 questions
Hi, I'm thinking about buying an 85 V6 Camaro for my Nephew. The car needs a tranny but is straight and all the glass is good (+ it has T-tops). Anyway, was it possible to have a posi rear with a V6? Was the tranny a 700R4? If so, did it differ from the V8 700R4?

You have to ask yourself, is the car worth the price of a tranny (anywhere from around $850-$1300+). What is the mileage on the engine, and what, if any, resent work has been done on it?

The V8 700R4 and V6 700R4 have different bell housings because a V8 motor has it's opposing cylinder banks set at a 90 degree angle, and the V6 I believe is at a 60 degree angle. Since the bell housing is part of the tranny case these transmissions are not interchangable. Also, the V8 700R4 would have some internal differences such has how many clutch plates are in a given drum.
