For those who are confused what thier Firebird is.

What is my Firebird is it a Trans am, a recaro, GTA or a base model you ask???

Well if you get a hold of Pontiac Historical Services Web site at http://www.phs-online.com.
Ship them your Vin Number & about $35 they will ship you a packet of what your car w/ matching Vin number came from the Factory.
This will also keep ppl for saying to you when you tell them you have a Rare Pontiac or that ya have a TA when someone says you only have a Base model.
It also helps you if you bought a car & you are not sure what it really is.

I did this once with my 83 Pontiac & found out what it truely was. it was worth the money.

But mine is!

I knew mine was a one of a kind, due to the paint work being done by previous owner, but also being an earlier third gen drop top then the factory 90 models. Also took out the Pioneer rear speakers and put in JBLs! Automatic custom! hehe

Isn't the charge for Carfax reports about the same? I would go the same route you did though. I had heard of both services before coming to the site.

It normally takes 4 to 8 weeks but a month is normally how long it takes.

PHS doesn't have any RPO sheets. I wish they did because I own an 82 and they didn't include 'em in cars till 84 That paper PHS sends you is the factory invoice, listing all options on your car and the option prices, what dealer it was supposed to be shipped to, total MSRP and price, VIN, date shipped, date built, etc.

If you're lucky you might be able to find the build sheet inside the car tucked away somewhere, which lists all the RPO's and all the stuff above plus more, like car weight, exact day built, and zillions of undecipherable GM codes. With a totally swapped interior though, I wouldn't bet on it.

then there's the SPID sheet / RPO sheet / sticker, whatever you want to call it, but that's only for 84-92; 82-83 didn't have it.

hope this helps

Does the packet come with a reproduction window sticker? If not, then can you get one?

Thanks. I just looked at their site and it looks like it costs extra. It would be a neat item to have though.
