Re: 1983 Daytona
It is a good looking car. Here is what I would change if it were mine.
1. New coolant and washer bottles.
2. Remove Crossfire cold air induction system from hood and replace with the block off plate and install a under hood pad.
3. Relocate battery to spare tire area and install a SLP like cold air intake system in its place.
4. Better exhaust system with hidden tailpipes like factory installed.
5. Replace rear axel with a stronger one.
6. Refinish the gold GTA style wheels with color better matching the car.
Probably some other little things too but those right off the top of y head.

Re: 1983 Daytona
Gotta agree with most of that AirWolfe, GTA Wheels should be painted to match the bottom color of the car IMHO. I was going to do that with mine, even picked up a set of GTA wheels (now for sale... see ad in parts ad) but ended up going another route. The rear bumper looks really odd and should be corrected. I saw someone in the BAT comments said the stripes are probably "Unobtainium". I have to agree, while PhoenixGraphix makes a set in the color they are not correct (clear backing and lines are the wrong width/location). Original stripe is white with the grey lines printed on it, as far as I know it is not reproduced. Would sure love to get a correct set if possible. However, that said I actually like the look of the PG ones better as the stripe is a little more bold.
