1988 GTA 1 of 809 5-speeds - 22K miles
Hey guys,
Many of you know me on here but I am in the process of moving to California and I am going to sell my baby. This is very hard to do but I dont want to deal with the hassle and costs of moving it, smogging it etc. I am the 4th owner but before you say that is too many I will tell you the guy I bought it from got the title in 1990 when it was 2. It was owned by 2 other people for only a year.
Its a 5 speed and a lot of fun. With the 5 speed came a non-peanut cam and, 140 MPH speedo, 4 wheel disk and 3.45 gear ratio. this means it is just about as quick as a 5.7 of this year but a heck of a lot more fun! drives like a completely different car with the 5 speed. It has 22K miles on it and is in great shape of course!
Below are pics. Please no tire kickers wanting serious offers only as I am serious about selling it. I would rather sell it to one of you than flea-bay!
Asking $14,900 but will take any real offer. I think for the condition are rarity it is well priced. this is a rare bird and fun to drive which makes the miles on it hard to keep low
Some of the pics show black GTA wheels. those are the originals with plastidip covering them. that is off now and they are back to gold. I also have 1988 formula wheels that are powder coated black. I may throw those in or sell separate. depends on if you like them.
The only non-stock things are a 50% tint and the exhaust tips. yes I had them cut the original exhaust tips off to put them on but it was my car and.. well I think it improves the look of the car. The headliner is brand new and looks great (sail panels/visors re-covered as well)

Yeah, me too... I just am just not willing to go through all I need to move it etc. Too much going on trying to move the family out here. This car will only go up in value and I want it to go to someone who will keep it nice. if they want to drive it a lot that is up to them but I hope it will be someone who will keep it as is and enjoy it at shows etc. but it will be their car then.

Wow, really sad to hear you are selling. Beautiful TA, had the pleasure of seeing it at the Nats last year. GLWS, hope it goes to an enthusiast who will treat it well. Wish I could buy it, not in the cards for me right now, out of room and cant give up any that I have ATM.

I have passed this link on to a few of my Pontiac friends whom I'm trying to move into 3rd gens.
I'm surprised how much more I like it with the gold rims.

I almost sold my Formula several years ago, due to some heavy bills, but that passed and I look back now and say THANK GOD I still have it in my garage and love it more than before. It's easy to say "Yeah, I can sell it and not deal with the aggravation now", but once you start looking for something to replace it, you'll always compare it to what you HAD!

guys I do appreciate the love for the GTA I do. I know I will regret it but I have made my decision. I know that whoever buys this car will have a good investment on their hands long term if kept with low miles. Thanks again guys!

Dude, I just saw this car on craigslist and immediately came here to confirm it was yours. Lurked a lot on this forum so I knew there could only be one 5 speed, black GTA that sweet in central Ohio. Been looking for a 5 speed GTA myself, but you're about $10k over my budget! Good luck with the sale and the move to CA.

Beautiful car, and very fair price!
Where in CA? I'm lucky as I don't have to get CA plates and thus no smog, but I can see how that'd be a pain. I'd imagine your car should pass if stock, but...

DON'T DO IT! JUST 5 MINUTES AFTER YOU SELL IT AND SEE IT GOING DOWN THE ROAD, YOU'LL BE PISSED THAT IT'S GONE!

If I knew, I buy it back. I still have the VIN.
Now I have the other 1987 GTA but it needs a repaint and a very nice 80K all stock 84 and my wife want one gone.
