Car: 1985 Trans Am
Engine: 1990 Corvette L98 w/ ported 081s
Transmission: Stock Non-WC T5
Axle/Gears: 9 bolt w/ discs
1985 Trans Am 5 speed
Up for sale is my 85 Trans Am Hardtop.
I bought her from the original owner in 2011. It was all stock and had been under-sealed.
Manual Windows
Manual Locks
She's a 5 speed.
Title says it's got 171,000 on it (speedo has been swapped out)
I just put in an 86 350 roller block with ported 416 heads and .490 lift valve springs and retainers this summer.
It's got new rings, new freeze plugs, new head gaskets, bearings, an LT1 Covette cam, and a gear drive.
Now has an 89 L98 (60,000 miles on shortblock!) with 081 heads with cleaned up ports, .490 valve springs/retainers and Viton stem seals
and Edelbrock Performer intake manifold.
Rebuilt M4ME Quadrajet carb and new distributor.
Replaced the clutch as well and put in a new 15 lb flywheel.
New Hitachi Gear Reduction Starter
Just put in new diff fluid (Borg Warner 9 Bolt with Posi)
Replaced the rear calipers and pads as well, handbrake works!
It's also got Stainless Steel headers, a 2.5" Y-pipe, new cat, and a 3" Flowmaster cat-back with a Single Chamber Flowmaster 10.
Installed an upgraded Alternator from a 93 LT1 Camaro
New Aluminum radiator
New headlights
New water pump
Replaced old seats (torn) with Leather "Racing" seats. Driver power seat plug is still there and stock seat rails.
Installed an electric fuel pump (no manual pump hole)
I took off the A/C compressor when i swapped the engine, but I still have it and all the brackets for it to be put back on.
The radio needs to be wired up
Running new AC Delco R43TS plugs.
$1,100 obo
Call or text Nic at 703-489-2457 anytime.
I have to move soon and I cant bring it with me. Make me an offer.

Yep, but, I'm putting an L98 (with carb manifold of course) that I freshened up, into it right now. So, it's gonna be down for a few weeks.

Re: 1985 Trans Am 5 speed
Sigh. School has started up again.
I cant deal with her anymore. She runs and drives. I've gotta but the interior back together. But, I can't keep wrenching on her anymore.
Someone come get it for $1100 obo.
Will update pics soon, as the engine, fuel pump, pressure regulator, distributor cap, rotor, coil have been changed.
Replaced the clutch/pressure plate, water pump, radiator, yoke seal on the trans (T5 NonWC), changed diff oil (Posi). New rear pads (replacement calipers installed so Handbrake WORKS!!).
New speedo from an 85 Camaro (yes they fit)
Mobil 1 oil filter. Extra long one for a C30 from the 70s. Holds an extra 1/2 quart.
Rear hatch seal has been replaced. I will be replacing the window rubbers (the
ones on the outside of the door that touch the windows)

But I'm open to all offers.
Just finished the passenger side window rubber (what a pain!) on the 19th.

Indeed it does. But, I wouldn't rely on it as a daily just yet.
I'm still trying to tune the carb. But it's been difficult with the wacky weather.

Dude I could easily give you $800 dollars cash money for it as it sits at this very moment, but I do believe I would be getting a divorce the very next day.

Re: 1985 Trans Am 5 speed
Its been annoying. Turns out the air horn is warped (typical for Quadrajets) So I'm taking all the new parts and putting them into an extra one that I used to run on it.
I've actually got them both on the bench next to me right now haha

Re: 1985 Trans Am 5 speed
My apologies for the delayed response. A lot of stuff going on this past weekend setting up for the move.
The Quadrajets are causing way too much trouble. One keeps flooding the motor the other has a warped air horn that causes it to run crazy lean.
I'm hoping to purchase a Holley 3310 tomorrow. But until then it would need to be towed if you want it. This is getting extremely irritating.
Until I purchase the carb, price is down to $900 (basically removing the cost of the new carb) but that means it needs to be towed away.
If no one wants it by March 1st it's being either donated or junked (*sniffle*) :'(

Ok, i live in fredericksburg, so youre not too far away. If you get it to where i can drive it home, we can work out a deal. I assume it doesnt run, or run good enough to drive?

Re: 1985 Trans Am 5 speed
Right now it doesn't run at all thanks to all these carb issues.
When I had my old (86 roller motor) 350 with a reproduction LT1 cam she was quite a peppy drive. Also I was averaging close to 25 mpg
I did get it to run right after I got the L98 in but, I didn't drive it very far.
I'm off to get the Holley tomorrow morning, and when I get back from class I'll go through it, slap it on and hopefully get it driving around again.
I really just want it to go to someone on here rather than just be scrapped or donated.
I will keep you updated with what happens around tomorrow night for sure though.

I'm not sure I'd be able to show it to you until the at least Friday though.
I have class until the almost 10pm Tuesday.
I hope it doesn't snow. That's what slowed me down the week before last!
Original LG4 carb car.

I guarantee you have a spot to see it, regardless of the day.
Like I said I really do want this to go to a TGO member.
Unless, someone comes and literally tows it away from me. lol (rather unlikely)
Also, I'm loving that bumper sticker in your sig XD

Yep that'd be fine.
No, I had to take the ad down, since I was running straight water at the time and kept putting off adding Antifreeze, then that night BAM <20 degrees F. Water freezes in block and then I was back at square one.
Learned my lesson this time haha.

Tomorrow should work.
Yeah I spent most of yesterday evening getting snow off of my cars and the driveway.
That's unfortunate, I hope you feel better soon though.

She runs!!!!!!!!
Removed all the plugs (PAIN IN THE *** w/ these headers) and cleaned them all with a MAPP torch.
Also loosened up the rockers and Vroom. Started right up. Finally.
I'll clean it up in the morning.
