1989 GTA !!!SOLD!!!
Low mileage real GTA for sale. Same owner since 1999. I purchased it with just over 70 000 kms, now has 108 000 kms. White ext. Grey int. 5.7 litre automatic.
Car was totally original when I purchased it then proceeded to performing tasteful updates over the years but all original parts come with sale of car. PM for details on updates done. Very balanced car, great power, handling and drive-ability. 24 MPG on the highway! Great sounding exhaust.
Always garaged. Never winter driven.
Very clean inside and out. Interior has no tears or damage. Exterior is excellent.Undercarriage like new.
You can see some details here http://hobracing.com/featurecars/1989GTA/1989gta_1.asp
Open to offers.
I will take better pics and video this weekend.

Re: 1989 GTA
Car is evaluated at $10000. I am open to offers. I would like to sell it soon. I have my eye on another car ( not 3rd gen ) and I would like to have my car out of the garage to purchase my next car.

To be perfectly honest, i don't see you getting more then 5k for your car. It's in decent shape exterior and interior wise. You have done a few decent mods to it. However, for 10k you could buy a nice LS1 car and be much much farther ahead in the game. Not trying to bash your sale or anything, just letting you know what kind of market you are looking at. If you price it in the 5k-7k range, you might find a buyer.

Re: 1989 GTA
While I don't completely disagree with you, you are not taking nostalgia or simple emotion into the equation. There are people out there that desire specific cars, down to specific years, colors, engine combos. Be it for nostalgia or reliving their youth, people tend to make emotional bonds with specific cars, that is why older cars gain in value.
With your train of thought, why would anyone pay $100 000 for a 68-69 427 LS6 corvette when you can go buy a 2011-12 ZR1 Corvette and be ahead of the game?
If you look at these cars as a strictly functional value, then yes my car should be less than an LS1...but if you add the intangible reason that all older cars retain or gain in value, then for the right buyer my car might very well be worth my asking price, or close to it. One day it might even be worth more...
Thanks for the comments, and I do agree that this is a tough market...but timing is everything. Hopefully the right buyer is out there...his or her car is waiting for them

I've dropped the price down to $8900 locally. Willing to take $8500 from the community.

Agreed that 10k is a little high in this year range. Not so much on the LS1 part. Just saying that the price generated is geared more toward show-room floor quality-never seen a road- this car lives better than most people- specimens. emotional attachments or not. Good Luck.

Re: 1989 GTA
The asking price is not 10k, its at $8250 for board members & 8750 for public.
It sold last week, but the guy couldn't secure the money, too bad. He wants the car bad, but I am not a bank.
I have had 2-3 guys interested, 1 at $7000, but I am not ready to let it go that low, not yet.
One more guy came to see it last night, he said he'd call with an offer today.
Either way, this is a nice car, tastefully upgraded, runs great and looks great as well. IMO, it is well worth $8000+ to the right buyer

Re: 1989 GTA
Even at 67k miles, you won't get anything over 7500 at most for the car. Most people looking at getting a F-Body are in it to go to the drag strip or race people on the street ( as stupid as it sounds ) and for a couple thousand more, you can get a excellent condition LS1 WS6 or SS and be a hell of a lot faster from the get go.
The car IS in great shape, its just outdated. Its not old enough to be considered classic or collectible, but at the same time, it isn't up to date enough to warrant the same price as a much faster car of the same model.
I would say around 6800 is a more fair price. The numbers you're asking seem more akin to a GTA that has between 35-50000k miles. Once you get into the really low milage ( under 25k miles ) you can start looking for the big bucks.
Good luck with the sale though. I'm especially fond for white GTAs having owned one myself.

Re: 1989 GTA
honestly i don't see you making anything more than 6 on the high side for this car but i guess 7 isnt really too wild. they weren't the greatest from the factory. there are mint corvettes going for thousands less than your car.
im meaning no offense with this just saying maybe its just that we all buy theses cars regularly

Re: 1989 GTA
Look at the Craigslist around the country... I looked at an 89 GTA for $6500 in FL, mint body and a complete LT1/T56 conversion. Only reason I did not jump on it, was because I had my heart set on a Z28. I agree with your statements on emotional buying, been there, done that. We all have... But in today's economy, I have my emotions on check! Vulcan style! Your GTA is beautiful, it will find a home soon, Good Luck!

Re: 1989 GTA
It found a home earlier this morning. Car is gone, 5 year old daughter cried as it drove off.
Now the search begins for the replacements, my garage looks awkward empty
