1982 project trans am for sale 1,000.00
This car has electronically and mechanically been upgraded to a 1990. However the interior and body remain stock looking. This car was converted using a complete 1990 firebird donor car so it has even a functioning VATS system, 140mph (mechanical electronic cluster) all possible 1990 electrical harnesses so car could be upgraded to TPI quite easily.
This car needs a motor as the motor puffs blue smoke at startup but does run good. Also needs a major brake job and possible front suspension rebuild. The body and paint are still in very nice shape.
Car has no electrical issues at all and everything works except a/c and cruise control. It does however need a wiper/cruise control stalk since it busted.
all weather stripping is in excellent shape and I have new door main seals just never installed them. Drivers seat is torn but all other seats are still extremly nice as is the door panels, speaker covers, visors & headliner. Carpets are nice but need to be steam cleaned.
The engine is a 1990 L-98 with TBI fuel injection. The transmission is a 5 speed.
I prefer the vehicle be sold out of california & vehicle has no rust whatsoever and is currently registered for another month. Has no accident history at all and I have a clean title to it. I would be will to drive the car to any southern california port for international shipping.
If desired brake work and interior detailing can be done before shipping at an extra cost.
all funds will be verified prior to release of this car.
other known issues that car needs.
tires
headlight motor bushing kit
rear hatch lifts
possible shocks and strits
I also forgot to add this is an original black/gold car but the cloth interior was changed to leather

Some more details about the car. Yes it does have some nicks and small scratches but keep in mind this paint job is somewhere in the area of 10 years old. It was professionally done at a local ford dealership and no signs of major body damage were found when it was stripped down.
I have tried my best to completely describe this car and all of the work needed that is in need of. I started the car yesterday after it had been sitting for about 2 months and it fired right up.
again here is a list of things I know this car needs.
Short block or current motor rebuilt however it still runs very strong but smokes at startup and after idling awhile and mashing on the gas pedal.
brakes by major I mean complete front rotors and pads and bearings. needs back ones probably as well. brake system does work though and has no leaks.
possible front end rebuild and new shocks and struts
cruise control wiper stalk
hatch lifts
headlight motor bushing kit (has 1990 motors)
A/c system is complete but no freon consider complete replacement of all parts as system was open and may be contaminated.
dash pad original is cracked
TRANSMISSION IMPORTANT for some reason a few months after it was rebuilt with new input shaft and cluster set (I think thats what they called it) the transmission started to gring while downshifting into 3rd gear at highway speeds. I am not sure why it started this and I never had it looked at. It upshifts fine though through all the gears.
Here is what the 90 upgrades were in detail.
every possible thing under the hood
electric cooling fan
headlight motors
engine
exhaust
complete brake system and lines (metric no longer sae standard)
rearend (3.08 open drum)
transmission is a 88 though I think
clutch hydraulics
all wiring harnesses
fuel tank and all fuel lines
instrument cluster (which everything works) (140mph speedo)
radio was replaced with a all push button (even volume controls) from a 87 trans am
instruments illuminate in orange color now
Any specific questions regarding the car please PM me.

Another interesting PM was sent and to answer those questions so I don't have to again.
the car was originally a LG-4 with auto trans car, originally had the 14 inch bowling ball rims which I still have but the bowling ball covers were stolen many years ago but the rims will come with the car if desired.
Only suspension changes are this .... IROCZ front hollow sway bar and wonderbar & trans am WS-6 rear sway bar.
Being it had a 1990 upgrade yes a airbag can be added to the car ( I hate them though and retained the stock steering wheel)
The VATS system works perfectly and has never given me any trouble and still retains starter disable and fuel disable.
Clutch was replaced early this year and still works great with no chatter
No it doesn't overheat usually stays at like 180 on freeway and 180-230 around town because the electric fan is thermostatically controlled just like the 90 was.
Exhaust sound .... stock sounding to a little louder then stock but can easily meet any state requirements for noise.
about the 90 headlight motors ... yes they were upgraded and the motors work but the plastic bushing need replacing I did them on my 90 corvette for about 30.00 for both. All 1990 headlight wiring/electronics are on the car. The car no longer has the problematic 82 headlight relays and such.
The fuel injection system is a 1990 LO-3 TBI system (not crossfire) !!!! Yes it could use 350 tune and injectors but runs fine like it is.

hatch lifts
cruise control stalk (intermitent wipers) must be for a 89 camaro column!
turn signal cam
extra passkey & tumbler set for spare what in it works fine though
I think top down solution sells these bushing kits and gear sets

Re: 1982 project trans am for sale 1,000.00
this is what it needs when I say turn signal stalk. where all the wiper script is broke off
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1989-...Q5fAccessories
it could also use this as the left turn signal when using you have to push down very hard on the wiper stalk to get the signal to lock down (that is why the stalk broke in the first place.

Re: 1982 project trans am for sale 1,000.00
If the screw that holds the lever to the turn signal switch assembly is loose that's what happens, you have to wrestle the stalk all the way down to engage the turn signal, right turn signal will work fine, just left side is problematic

Re: 1982 project trans am for sale 1,000.00
nah like as much of the cars stuff to go as possible so I got room for my 90 vette projects parts.
I also have a decent speed density TPI harness if he plans on TPI in the car. needs like three pigtails repaired but is pretty nice aside from that

Re: 1982 project trans am for sale 1,000.00
If it's free and you want to get rid of it, throw it in the back. I don't know what he wants/needs. Have stuff here to last a lifetime incl harnesses (they came w/ that polished TPI setup didn't they?) I think there are 5 or 6 complete setups lying around here some SD some mass air.
