Vacuum Diagrams
Here's a typical one for computer controlled carb 3rd gens.
Perhaps others can post TBI/TPI types.

If any one has a pic from an '85 TPI car I'd appreciate it as well as the Vehicle Emission Control Information label as my car doesn't have them. I tried to get them at my local Pontiac dealer but they said they couldn't get them anymore.

My wife has a 84' Pontiac 6000 (amazing good shape body and all), but I had to replace valve cover gaskets and you talk about a NIGHTMARE. I had to track down a vacuum leak on it once and sometimes I felt like ripping the CCC out and putting a holley on, but eventually managed. Graphics like above definitely help out. Great Job 57!

Vacuum Tube
Do any of the diagrams tell you what size vacuum tubing needs to be used? Looking at mine it doesn't look like a standard size or would it really not matter?

Re: Vacuum Diagrams
I need to know (preferably a picture) in detail where the "TO HVAC" goes exactly. I'm thinking this might be why I can only get air to come out of the defroster vents no matter what I have it set on.

Re: Vacuum Diagrams
Guys I just bought a 91 Camaro Z28 Convertible, it had a 305 TBI. I did away with it and I installed a TPI system from a 1989 IROZ with a Mass Air Flow Sensor . I kept the original 1991 vent canister wich has a different diagam. My question is, should I set the vacuum lines up as the TPI 90-92 or should i find the vent canister for a 86-89 TPI?????

Re: Vacuum Diagrams
Ill be figuring out sizes for the following diagram. Since I busted my EGR vacuum hoses, might as well do the rest too.
Fig. 21: 1988-1992 5.0L Throttle Body Injection; auto trans.
EDIT:
Lengths will vary depending on how you route. Also I would go to figure that sizes are the same for each part, just not the lengths.
Map Sensor- 1/4"
EGR Solenoid- 3/16"
EGR Valve- 3/16"
PCV- 3/8"
Canister Top- 1/4"
Canister Bottom- 5/16"
-Y Connector- 5/16" Main, Split to 3/16" Secondary
-Canister Bottom Y (Small Hose)- 3/16"
-Canister Bottom Y (Large Hose)- 5/16"
Brake Booster- 3/8"
3/16" = 3ft = 4mm
1/4" = 5ft = 6mm
5/16" = 1ft = 8mm
3/8" = 3ft = 10mm
Buying all from Hose Techniques

Re: ThirdGen VACUUM DIAGRAMS INSIDE!!!
Thanks for the diagrams, but do you have access to a picture of the EGR solenoid? I have never had to replace this thing and I most likely need to. 271, 000 miles, no replace. Have replaced the EGR valve every 4 years. Anyway, anything you can do will be appreciated. I am the original owner of an 89 Formula with 5.7 tpi. I work on myself when I can.
Thanks,
Barbara

These diagrams are awesome for reference data.
Does it matter which end of the lines hook up to the EGR solenoid? I have a code 32 EGR code.
Thanks!

Re: Vacuum Diagrams
Hey Chevy86...
I figured out what the problem was. I guess for some reason there is NO vacuum suction from the hose under my throttle body. I used a different vacuum source and hooked up my EGR solenoid from the 95 Caddy 4.9L engine and now there is NO SES light!!!
I wanted to ask you a different Q though....
Have you ever noticed your volt gauge drop below the 13 when you have the AC on and are sitting at a traffic light?
I replaced the belt with a brand new Dayco and have all the stock items installed.
Any issue with the battery going to be Dis-chaged when the needle goes below 13 at idle? It doesnt do it when I am cruising down the road.
I appreciate any help or advice.

Re: Vacuum Diagrams
Just FYI, the EGR solenoid valves I have seen must be connected correctly. The vacuum connector centered on the solenoid body must be connected to the vacuum source and the other line must go to the EGR valve. This is because when the solenoid is not energized, the EGR side is vented to air through a small orifice and filter so that the valve will close quickly. If you get these lines wrong, you will have a vacuum leak when not energized, and the EGR valve will stay open long after it is supposed to close!
