offshore mig welders
Been looking at offshore mig welders. Price on inverter machines is very reasonable vs miller/lincoln/hobart and so on.
Couple of things I've noticed. A lot of machines have the EURO connector, and some have the Lincoln/Tweco #4 style. Anyone have a preference?
Most machines have a burnback control, which I think would be very useful for welding aluminum.
Some machines don't have wire speed control, which is interesting. I guess it's "arc length" or whatever on the pulse machines. Who's using a pulse machine? Is it worth it? Better for out of position welding?
Some machines only have a 2 pin trigger connector, not the 4 pin, so I'm assuming if I wanted to use my spool gun on these machines I'd have to change the connector and mount a double throw switch inside the machine to extend the feed wires to the spool gun.
I've heard some people say the "euro connector" welders are spool gun ready, but some of them don't have a din connector at all (since the trigger is in the euro connector) so I don't see how you'd get feed control to the spool gun..
