in fact, the car is almost the same as mine! Its a 396, i am a 385, we have same heads, same cam, they opted for SLP 1 3/4 headers, i have hedman 1 5/8 they had SLP exhaust i have Magnaflow..

IMHO they screwed things up with the "small" air filter. That 4" air pipe can flow somewhere around 1800cfm. That air filter is no where near that. A 3.5" pipe can flow around 1300cfm and is big enough for 99% of the applications. You just need an airfilter that flows the same or close to it.
Edit: After doing some research that air filter only flows 621cfm at 28". They really screwed up the test.

Anyways, What do you think of the oval shaped filter that sticks straight on the TB, theorticaly it should flow more due to no tunnel for air pass, it's all straight forward, from the skies and into your plenum. K&N p/n # KNN-RC-5050
