Custom fiber Glass work
Ive been doing a lot of talking lately with a guy who is interested in doing some custom fiber glass work for our cars, he has done a lot of stuff for fiero's and other some imports and I mentioned that there may be a few requests from the thirdgen community for some custom work.
List requests below and I will throw it past him. If you see something you like voice it, so I can tell how popular it is. I personally may try to get him to make me a set of Headlight Louvers, Not something for full time use or anything like that but just something I can dable with to see how it looks and if I like it or not.

Two part speaker box to take the place of the rear seats (and flatten them out). Maybe a molded console? Smoother, better transitioning dash pieces?

A '69 Z28 style rear spoiler would be cool... sorta like the 5", but without the side parts, only straight across the decklid to the edges of the 1/4s.

you guys who want consoles and dashes w/ gauge pods and stuff,i can make all that kind of stuff. you could do it yourself, its actually not hard at all.

im gonna say it first...thats right HEADLINER!!!!!! a fiberglass headliner...... --what im going to do within the next week-- just fiberglass over the existing board.....i mean its a damn removable mold....couldnt be easier!
ok.....some sort of door runner panel to put some mid driver woofers in...like 8's or something......
kick manel pods...
fiberglass over cracked dash boards..
fiberglass lid for the back *live well*... heh
anything else would be difficult as all hell......new console....different dash style....a guage cluster might be faily easy ......

How thick is the box with the (2) 10's.
I made a lid a couple years ago for another guys trans am that held (2) 12's it didnt even have a bottom and that thing pounded so hard it was rediculously hard hitting.

The japanese ducted hood without the side vents, just the reverse opening would be really sweet and a lot of people are intersted.

Well actually I have been interested in a C-5 vette fiberglass rearend. Also the headliner thing sounds good too. Some 91-92 ground effects since the ones around are so exspencive even moreso the front spoiler piece since so many get damaged.
Hey, if anyone knows where I can get some custom kicks for my camaro PLEASE let me know!! I need em to fit 6 1/2 polk momo componets with 1" tweets!! Thanks!

yea, its not home made, but i was jsut pointing it out for thoes that are intrested.
the first post kinda implys that he wants to produce somthing to sell... and well, making somthing out of fiberglass that is already mass produced cheaper in plastic isnt a good way to make money. so id thought id help out.
anyhoo, ideas of stuff you could make from fiberglass and sell:
AC delete heater box
a new heater/AC box that is smaller and lets you use a better blower motor.
fiberglass "ram air" ducts for TPI cars
fiberglass full length top plates for camaro center consoles that have a cupholder or somthing...
matching gauge pods
subwoofer mount panels/boxes
speaker kickpanels
glove box for dashboard (this would be neat)

us taller passengers would be mad if we got in a thirdgen and saw a glove box .....i love the third gen simply because it has leg room lol
i was just throwing the idea out there for the do it yourselfer.....it wouldnt really be cost effective making fiberglass headliners...
altho the abs ones are like 200....so....it just might be a profit with the fiberglass.

I'm interested in this Idea as well, tree. I would have to sacrifice a dash, to see what it would take, and how large it could be made.
Ideally, it would appear un-modified, like nothing has been done.
Right now, I gotta find another shop, and round up a few cars to butcher, but I will add this Idea to my list of things I want to produce.
I'm also quite large, and feel your pain about removing legroom.
A fiberglass headliner is a nobrainer. that's easy, but my new landlord would have kittens if i did something like that on my back porch.lol

yeah...ive never worked with fiberglass, so im thinking ill give it a shot on my headliner.....it SEEMS simple enough....
looks like the hardest part is making the actual mold.....other than that....its kinda like spreading butter on bread...just....a lot bigger heh

More like making lasagnia. must have a PERFECT plug to pull a mold off of, any flaw will be magnified into the finished product.
I have a good mold for a headliner, but noplace to work. will be finding a shop before long, then the Camarodrome will be in business.
If you try it yourself, feel free to pm me, or email me at Camarogenius@yahoo.com I'll give you any advice I can.

i've been searching forever for a fiberglass front bumper for my 84 Trans Am! I've seen one for the 85-90 style already but i'm dying to get one in the 82-84 style. Also, i'd want it to not have ground effects. Fiberglass ground effects would get beat up too easily, i'd rather remount my factory urethane ones.

Custom Fiberglass
I also do a lot of custom fiberglass work. I currently have a set of kick pods that fit a 1" tweeter and a 6 1/2" midbass. I am working a a radio mounting plate that sits over the stock radio plate and angles the radio at the driver more. I will be making some door panels in the next week or so and can make just about anything you want, either in mass orders or one off pieces. Let me know if there is something anyone wants me to make and I'll see what I can do.

Actually If you can make some of the kick panels with the same configuration you use that would be great! How much you charge for a set?

When I am finished with the trim plate I will be measuring the usable depth after using the plate. Thanks for the tip though. I know some head units are longer than others. As for the kick pods I have, currently I have a set made that is covered in black carpet either with a set of Alpine Type R components for $425.00 or without the speakers for $175.00. My upholstry guy would want $150 to cover them in almost any color vinyl (black included) He is on the pricey side by he does amazing work and I won't take any of my work to anyone else. Let me know if you are interested. I can also make more sets if anyone is interested.

Here are some links to pictures on my website: www.customcaraudiosystems.com of some of my glass work on Honda Del Sols.

And finally, a pic of the rear speaker pods I made for a Honda Del Sol.
There are more pictures of my work on the website and I have many projects to put up on it yet. If there is anything anyone needs for a 3rd gen f-body let me know. I have a 91 Camaro RS that I am using to get started on some fiberglass projects.
