Parting out 1987 Trans Am GTA
Purchased a 1987 Trans Am GTA, for some parts I need for my car. Will be parting the rest out.
I will get better pics, and more info once I get the car home (broke down due to a flat on the freaking Uhaul waiting on roadside assistance).
Here's what I do know so far....
Was a 305 TPI originally, has an old carbuerated 327 in it now. Looked like a BW 9 bolt, but not 100% sure. Rear disc brakes.
Has a digital dash, owner told me the car had around 80k on the odometer, but did not have time to verify (wanted to get loaded and go).
Going to use the GTA wheels, and GTA black seats for my car, but I will have the GTA wheels off of my car, and my black cloth regular TA/firebird seats available for sale.
Lmk if you need anything, and I will do my best to get pics/prices as soon as I can. PM, or here is fine.
I plan on pricing stuff out VERY reasonably, as I would like to be done with it in a month or so.
Thanks all!

Re: Parting out 1987 Trans Am GTA
I do not know the working order of the dash/switched anything, as they disconnected everything to hillbilly the 327 in, with the aftermarket gauges.
Let me get it all taken down, and I will let you know.
Thanks man.

Re: Parting out 1987 Trans Am GTA
Continuing on with the disassembly, here is the driver side door. PW, PDL, PM. Surprisingly, even though the floor is rotted to hell, this door is in VERY nice shape.
No rust on the bottom inner edge, very clean. Has 1 small spot on the outside above where the ground effect was, about the size of a quarter. Can be wiped away with sandpaper easy.
Has a dent below the mirror as well. Looks like it can be easily popped out.

If anyone needs a front or rear bumper bar that is not rotted out like they normally are, ones on the car are good.
20.00 each local pickup, or I'll leave em bolted on when she goes to the crusher.

Re: Parting out 1987 Trans Am GTA
Both doors sold!
Pics of the car as it sits, and the rusted out driver side floor pan. Really is a shame, as the floor rusted from the inside out because of a T-top leak.
Other than this spot, and the driver side quarter panel bottom, the car is relatively solid. I really wish I had the time, facilities to save it, but can't and too late now 😔
If somebody out there needs a passenger quarter panel, passenger floor pan, trunk sheet metal, etc this would be a great car to rob the sheet metal from......

Re: Parting out 1987 Trans Am GTA
Hood and transmission sold.
Here is a summary of what it left of the car.
Roller-Driver side floor rotted out from the front seat brace to the toe kick. Passenger side is nearly perfect.
Truck floor is great, no hole for a fuel pump replacement hack job.
Passenger side quarter panel is in good shape, driver side is rusted out at the bottom
Front fenders are rusted at the bottoms, and they were jacked on.
Under the hood-firewall is good, area below the heater box is good, battery tray has surface rust but it solid. Both strut towers are in very good shape.
Core support is smashed at the top (looks like they dropped the engine on it when they pulled it).
Rear axle still available- BW 9 bolt, disc brakes, 3.27 posi. Driver side caliper is gone. 24MM rear sway bar still attached. E-brake cables still there and intact.
Front suspension is complete. WS6 springs, and 36MM sway bar still there, along with the steering box.
Steering column, master cylinder, proportioning valve, wiper motor, and blower motor still there.
Hatch still there, with the spoiler. Poor condition.
Fuel tank, heat shields, all still attached and under the car.
Loose items-complete serpentine setup still available, dual electric cooling fans with top and bottom supports still available.
Y-pipe, single cat, and cat back exhaust complete and in good shape. It has a flowmaster muffler on it.
Couple more days, and she is going to the crusher. Lmk if you need anything, or would be willing to sell everything listed above for 150.00. You would need to bring a set of wheels to bolt on to the car to roll it (on jackstands now).
