Ram Air I Hood for Firebird Trans Am
Hey all, I'm still a little new to the forums, so be nice if I do something stupid... I don't want to get . Anyways, I have a Ram Air I hood for thirdgens (firebird not camaro). It's never been "used," I just mounted it to my car and didn't like the look, so off it goes. I'm looking for $300 picked up, or $300+ whatever shipping costs (I have no idea how you would ship a HOOD!) It's fiberglass, and has the spot ready to be cut out for functional ram-air use. The guy I bought it from said it was from Hawk's Thirdgen I think. It's still primer white, with it's gel-coat, and just has a few scuffs, NOT SCRATCHES, from transport (I was hauling a fender too, and it's red paint scuffed off onto the hood in one spot). I can send pics if anybody want's them. The only stuff I'm looking for in trade would be a ratchet shifter (for 700r4), if you have one, I'll take some off the price of the hood or whatever. I could also theoretically be interested in those cheasy hood scoops that stick on, depending on what they are. I'm just messing around with an old dented up hood for fun... Thanks alot guys!

I'll give you $280 and split shipping with you.
My front end got wrecked by a flatbed truck that cut me off in a traffic circle so if they write it off I am going to be rebuilding it my way and this is the first step.
Let me know.

I think Im the guy you bought it from, how come you didnt like it?
hey ppl I paid $500 for this when I bought it, I sold it to him for what he's asking, so he's just looking to get his money back, this is a great hood, I never ran it on my car, It was stored in a garage also. I had "plans" but never got around to them, sold the hood because I needed money for engine parts.
Good luck on the sale.

Re: Ram Air I Hood for Firebird Trans Am
Hey! thanks again for the deal on all that stuff man! I ended up not liking it when sitting in the car, just didn't like the look (I'm picky...) Plus, it wouldn't really work for what I have now... I'll post pics...
And just FYI I STILL HAVE THE HOOD, I'm asking $200+shipping now... problem is, shipping is EXPENSIVE if it's a long ways, because you have to ship it freight. I can take exact measurements and get a solid quote if somebody still wants it, but I have to tell you, local pickup is gonna be WAY better...
Thanks Guys!

What's a ballpark figure on shipping a hood? I am interested, but need to know what the total cost is.

Ok, so, the company you buy the hood from new, says shipping can cost between $65 to $175 US. I'm assuming that's based on how far away you are. So, my estimate would be about $100-$150. I'll try to nail it down farther.

Re: Ram Air I Hood for Firebird Trans Am
roots, magnacharger. its a radix off a truck 6.0.
I went with a linginfelter cam, 2.9 pulley, 60# injectors. should be good for around 500+ to the rear wheels.

Man, what do you do for tires? I've got about 380HP and 460Ft-Pounds, and 12" mickey thompson indy's. And all I do is spin... and it's posi, with relocating brackets too...

Damn, that's some goof torque? Is that dynoed? What kind of motor mods? I'm about 350rwhp (full bolt on ls1) and a set of 275' hook up good now. I've got all aftermarket suspension though. I think ill need a full slick for the maggie

Re: Ram Air I Hood for Firebird Trans Am
no, it isn't dynoed, but it's a pretty good guess, the speed shop that helped me with mine, built an almost exact duplicate of mine, even the heads are exactly the same, same series, with same amount of porting, plus same compression, with a similar cam. It made 415HP and 475FT.Lbs of torque, but it had a single plane intake, and was probably tuned much better than mine, with bigger headers. so I figure, with my slightly smaller carb, I'm making less HP.
Ok, it's a 400SB, bored over .03, to a 406. I'm running (I think) 487x casting heads, with 2.02" intake, 1.60" exhuast valves and roller rockers. With mild porting around the valve stems etc by the speed shop.
My cam has a .05 duration of 224 234 and a lift of .465 .488 and a 107 117 Lobe separation.
I'm running a (off brand) RPM Air-Gap intake, with a Holley 670CFM Street Avenger.
shorty 1.5" headers, with true dual exhaust into glass-packs.
OH, and 9:1 Compression with 92Octane fuel.
