can I get a borla catback for my 5.0
I am looking at the borla catback for my 5.0 liter. I have seen them for the 3.8, and for the 5.7, but not for mine. Anyone know if one is available or if one of these will work?

That depends... If you have a 2-1/4 cat, then youll probably need to go with the v6 model. If you have a larger cat, then you can get the v8 model. You could allways get a larger cat if you dont have one, but then youll run into the problem of having a 3" cat with a 2-1/4 y pipe.
Honestly though, I wouldnt waste my money on a Borla. Granted theyre great quality, but the Hooker cat back is awsome. I have it on my vert, and it sounds amazing. And at either 199 or 269, its fairly priced too!
Good luck!

Or you could just get some headders, and eliminate the tiny cat/y pipe problem, while adding some more power and a kick azz sound!

If you can't find a kit you can go to a muffler shop and have them make a custom Borla system. Next weekend I am going to have a 3in hi-flo cat, 3 in tubing, 80s Flow w/2 three inch tips put on. I have the 305 TPI with 63,000 on the OD. Let you know how it sounds. I have to get this done first to be able to get the headers put on. They need a 3in cat but won't replace it due to laws Should be loud and aggressive

Theres nothing they can do but repair it! If it works over here in Jersey, itll work just about anywhere!

Well, what Im sayin is that if you get headders, you will eliminate the small cat you have. Youll be able to use a large 3" cat, which will flow the best, and sound the best. I live right over in Jersey and the emmissions laws here are even tougher that in PA.
Keep in mind that with headders, and a full cat back exhaust, your looking at a pretty nice performance gain aswell!

So in addition to headers, I would need a new cat? And this would pass inspection? As you can tell I am new to all of this. I plan to keep my car for ever, and eventually show it. So since I don't have a garage and you know how our low to the ground cars love all the salt on the roads(I just replaced my entire floor pan, and will soon need brake and fuel lines) I have to go with the stainless steel of Borla which puts headers and a new cat out of my price range, at least until next years tax refund. Maybe a shop can make me some kind of adapter to get me through until then. Any info or advice you have is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, with a full exhaust set up, your car will pass. The reason Im tellin ya to get a new cat is cause the one you have is small and whimpy!
Hey, we have all been where you are, I didnt know crap about cars when I got my first GTA... knowledge comes with time and research, curses, broken knuckles, blood, and mouthfulls of grease/motor oil/antifreeze! Ya know, the good stuff!
As far as your exhaust lasting, my GTA still has the origonal intermediate pipe, and its not rusted yet. 90 thousand miles, and 14 years... holy ****, the car is 14 years old... just realized that lol.
And my winters are just as harsh as yours are... If you really want the Borla, go for it, but I wouldnt worry about the weather conditions. My new Hooker is made of aluminized tubing, wich is just fine. Now granted it wont last as long as stainless steel, but it WILL last for a long time.
As for your rust problem, you seem to have had a pretty extreme case of it... strange. I would invest in a good undercoating for your car, to prevent all of this from happening again.

Already got the undercoating on when the floor was put in. I am not sure why the rust is so bad. I have had the car for 3 years and there was rust there when I bought it, but it was my favorite car color (white) and had t-tops and only 52,000 miles, so I fell in love. I go to the car shows in Wildwood every year and they need more third gens. I intend to fill that space, eventually.

It's good to see more enthusiasm for thirdgens I'll be at the GM Carlisle in June. Are you planning to go there at all?

my t-top seals are pretty good, but there is a leak from the driver side window if you don't shut the door just right. The hinge is a little bent and the door doesn't line up perfectly. A little extra bump (or kick) usually does the trick. I don't think the previous owner took proper care of her.
I have never been to Carlisle but I have always wanted to go. Don't they also have a specific Camaro show? Got any dates?
