Borla install questions, Rear hanger question never saw one like this.
We bought this Borla and had it shipped as the price seemed right. I was thinking it was just an older GEN 3 Borla as the rear hangers have the push rod style hanger on the exhaust. It defiantly came from Borla that way looks very professional on the install.
I am actually installing on my 94 Z28, I am posting here as we had installed one on my 84 Z28 that was actually from a 94 Z28. I just figured it would be no problem. I need help finding the correct rear hanger parts? putting it under the car the drivers side hanger appears like it might work and slide right into the rubber mount on the car. The passenger side will not ever come close to reaching the rubber hanger. I feel like I am missing some sort of Borla adapter hanger to go from the push in round style to the frame mounts. Has anyone seen anything like this on a Borla and if so what parts do I need to hang the muffler?

I have read that the 4th gen. system will fit a 3rd gen, just that the rear hangers are different. Now I can see why.
This is all that I can offer...a low res photo of the 3rd gen system I bought. But I think it will give you an idea of what is different. You're goign to have to find a shop that can weld on the proper types of hangers, either to the system (to convert it to third gen), or to the car (to convert it to 4th gen).

Yes I put a 4th Gen on my 3rd gen, then bought a 4th Gen and found a Borla from a 3rd gen. There must be something out there to match it up. I used the 4th frame mounts and the system bolted right up. The F-body should not be any different. I just assumed that this might be an early Borla and they then changed the mounting brackets to make it easier. My other Borla has adjustable slots for the mounts on each side. I have also saw the Borla set up with the round push rod mount on the drivers side and the adjustable slotted mount on the passenger side.
I was hoping that there was rubber mounts and different frame mounts that might have been installed to hang the exhaust.
thanks for the help I will make it work somehow but looking for the easy way first.

you're going to need to mount another rod on the frame and use a rubber hanger to use what you have. search Amazon for "universal rubber exhaust hanger" and get a kit with all the parts. will look like this:

Thank you much, that is the direction I was leaning after searching for hours looking for direct mounts like that will bolt up into the factory mount holes. I do appreciate the confrirmation!

if you're handy you can probably fabricate some kind of plate that mounts in the factory location and weld the new hanger onto it. that all depends on where the upper hanger needs to be to align with the lower one on the exhaust though. it may need to be in a different location.

if the factory mount holes don't line up, it's easy enough to drill new holes in the frame rail and re-use the self tapping screws to shift the mounts forward or backward.
seems like I had to do this with my 4th gen exhaust install on one or the other side.

3rd and forth gen exhaust will interchange if you use the correct factory brackets designed for the exhaust.
contact borla and send pictures if you have to so you can get the correct parts.
