New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
Can finally upgrade the catback on ttop350. The smaller SLP exhaust has been on there since 1991 and is a bit of a choking point for my "stock" 350 engine ;-)
Hawks new totl catback. Hope to install it when i get some time soon. (the old SLP catback isn't the one from my car)
Hawks black box of goodness arrived yesterday
Old slp 3" x2.5 tails stainless and the new 3.5" x 3" tails side by side
Old tails and new tails
My friend Marty picked up a couple for his cars

Yes it is. Not built exactly the same inside but it is the same straight through idea.

Features look like the type of stuff Stainless Works does. Good stuff!

Wow, apparently I'm not getting the emails right now...
Getting ready to redo the front half of my exhaust, might have to try this in place of my Banks 2OTL.
What are the dimensions of the muffler?

I'll bet the muffler interchanges with the LS7 kit so gives you an option of hidden exhaust pipe behind the bumper too.

I wish this system had a 4" section before the muffler. I'm super curious to see N/A combo Dyno results. My dual 3" is beautiful, but murder to drive.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
we discussed the reasons for 3.5 vs 4 and it came down to power gain, cost, fitment and extra weight.
The gains from 3.5 to 4" were minimal if any on his higher hp cars. Ls swapped blower setups.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
Hawks posted a sound clip of the new TOTL exhaust running on a cammed LS3 on their instagram. Sounds really good - might be a little loud for my taste at higher throttle, but I think I'm sold when it comes time for my swap this fall- originally wanted to go hooker blackheart but the headers being discontinued made that more of a challenge.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
With a bit of luck, this Hawks deal's intermediate pipe might line up in the same space as my current Edelbrock single 3" does. It'll save some fab work as I've invested (heavily) in a Y-pipe to fit my current setup.
I'll wait for Mr. T's installation pictures. I'm in no rush...

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
I called and spoke with Stainless works today about parts i need to upgrade the 20 plus yr old temporary Ypipe to stainless.
Cut, sectioned, and tucked the frame rails. Modified the factory Xmemeber to run dual 3" slip fit from headers into a single 3" to the SLP catback. Going to build a stainless dual 3" into a single 3.5" to match the SW catback.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
Yep. It's ONLY temporary.
What I hope is that I wouldn't have to invest in another one of these.
From a collection of 2-1/2" Y-J stainless bends from Vibrant. Then Tigged together with Magnaflow's 2x2-1/2" into 3" merge. It's part of a complete system now from the headers to the tailpipe plus a modified OEM crossmember so it's tucked up as tight as possible.

Slow going. Have the stainless ordered to rebuild my 20 yr old "temp" Y pipe.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
I've always liked a more heard not seen approach when it comes to exhaust.
The 4thgen totl has the straight back pipes which look good on that body style.
your friends are jealous..... lol

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
I ended up getting the "factory style" dual downturn tip stainless works exhaust for my build, since 3.5" for the totl would be overkill for a stockish LS1 imo. hit my door today, I was more than a little disappointed to look in the first piece of tubing I pulled out of the box, and see that they did not back-purge the welds, and the inside has quite of bit of sugaring. I would have thought a professional stainless exhaust builder would back-purge everything.

Re: New Hawks exhaust hit my door yesterday
For anyone who has this exhaust, i'm curious if it is overkill for a stock TPI? My future plans are a HCI 355, and i love the look of the TOTL. Anyone with any experience yet?
