Flowmaster 80 Series or Flowmaster Delta Flow 40?

Hello dear community, I drive a Pontiac Firebird 3.1 1991 and am considering buying a new muffler.. either the Flowmaster 80 Series or the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40.. I hope it's loud in the interior while driving. Can you advise me or give me a purchase recommendation? Greetings from Germany

Look at a borla or magnaflow. Those fiberglass mufflers still sound decent on a V6. I belive GM made an option for them on the fourth generation V6. The fiberglass mufflers, while having a shorter lifespan, will not have the cackle and drone of a Flowmaster style muffler.

I think the best sound you're going to get is with an 80 series. Usually they sound good at idle with a 6.

I would get the most quiet close to stock muffler for it I could find.

Stock replacement mufflers tend to be quieter and more restrictive than the stock muffler. The stock v6 mufflers had just a little bit of sound tuned into them. The basic Dynomax Turbo muffler produces a similar tone, just a little louder. Flowmaster chamber type mufflers sound terrible on the GM 60 degree v6.

I don't quite know how to explain it. Just a lot of buzz and drone, among other unpleasant tones.

Re: Flowmaster 80 Series or Flowmaster Delta Flow 40?

I am NOT by any means a fan of the Chevrolet 60-degree V6 Engine Family...
The Early Buick 3.8L V6 (RWD like the grand National) Engine would be a far better Engine.
The Engine is essentially a Buick 300 Cubic-Inch V8 that has 2 Cylinders removed.
They sound great with a Flowmaster Super 40/ 44 Series Muffler.

Speaking of Engines with 2 Cylinders removed...
The Chevrolet 4.3L V6 Engine would be also be a far better Engine, and they are plentiful (you can find them anywhere).

I have recently been experimenting withe the very Late/ the last of the Vortec 4.3L Engines.
Essentially building them as if they were a Vortec 350 Engine...
And they actually can make a little Horse-Power.

The most recent 4.3L that I have together...
I detuned it to roughly 400 HP @7,200 RPM...
It sounds AMAZING with Flowmaster Super 40 Series Mufflers!!!

I also threw on a really old 66/ 91 Turbocharger for $hits-n-Giggles...
I stopped at 800 HP...
But it sounded GREAT with a Flowmaster Super 10 Series Muffler!!!
