My homemade 4 inch exhaust

My homemade 4 inch exhaust
Just wrapped this up. Had a single 3 before with a spintech crossflow. I decided to step up to 4 inch but wanted to stay with dual tailpipes, I wanted to go with a more strailth through muffler, so I had to get creative. Coming off a set of 2210s. Factory ride hieght. I only wrapped it to help with heat control.

Yes......now that’s a proper exhaust! The turn after the muffler is a little tight but still should flow very well. Great job!

Please excuse the leftover never seize. Still a work in progress
Tons of room between axle and pipe. Its super close to the body on the passenger side of the pipe. It doesnt touch or vibrate though. Ive yet to hear it bangin around on these fine northeast roads. Yes, I used a panhard brace drop bracket.

Re: My homemade 4 inch exhaust
Way better clearance than my 4" mufflex system. I've relocated my torque arm to the trans crossmember though, which is part of the problem. Still, looks very nice. If you've got a decent microphone, you should let us know how it sounds. What muffler are you running? My Spintech sounds okay (if not a little loud, but I'm sure that has more to do with the 4" sewer pipe) but it's a huge restriction. I had to cinch my over the axle pipe down with all of my might or it'd blow off due to the pressure. I've been trying to find a decent straight through that'll fit nicely.

I'll put it out there also, I'd love to hear what this sounds like, even on an LO3, I've never heard one of the dynatech mufflers. For that matter, I know I love the 3" aerochambers but I've never heard a 4"...
I think you can post videos directly to here now, but if you don't have anywhere to post them you can send them to me and I'll put them up for you.

Re: My homemade 4 inch exhaust
Just a bit of an update. Swapped to a t56 (thanks scooter) ended up makin mu own crossmember, redoin the y-pipe and usin a modded midwest chassis torque arm. Probly do a full build thread once the blower is on.
Lost a little clearance. Trans is massive. Sittin on a pro-kit now too

I know this is an old thread. Could you post a list of the bends you used? Looking to diy a 4” and I’m trying to figure out the bend radius’s needed.

Re: My homemade 4 inch exhaust
If youre asking that question then a 4" exhaust might be more than you can do. What he did, you can't buy off the shelf. And the list of lengths and bends will only be right for a car with his exact parts. The exhaust routing has to contend with the headers, torque arm, SFCs, ride height, panhard bar and transmission Xmember.

Re: My homemade 4 inch exhaust
I have and plan to do most of those things. I’m a collision repair tech by trade. I’m sure I can handle the labor. If I had a build sheet of his bends and radiuses. It would help. Don’t need a y pipe. Just from the cat back. The sinister kit just seems really expensive for its type of materails. If it were stainless it would add up tho. Likely going to be the path I take. Not sure yet tho.
I’ve got to put a fuel pump and sending uint asm in. I’m going to prep the rear end with a 9 bolt disc brake unit. Drop exhaust so I figure it’s a good time to do it all. Also have all new rear suspension. Getting tired of my gas gauge changing from full to empty and I speed up. Only things I’m lacking are getting exhaust and power coating the calipers.

How does the vibrant muffler sound? Any sound clips?

Sorta-kinda like the holley "trual dual" kit from the axle back.
I think twin 2.5" mufflers will quiet it down and still flow enough to support the turbo.
