Any body have their muffler mounted infront of the rear end?
-When I say in front of the rear end, I mean along the drive shaft and torque arm.

Ive ran a glass pack where the cat-converter was and no muffler in the back in several of my cars before. It sounded ok.

I'm running true dual stacks, no cat with one glasspak per side, exiting out the side and going up in between the door window and the hatch. Sounds kinda like a Harley, somehow.

Re: Any body have their muffler mounted infront of the rear end?
^This guy is close, im trying to run -1- muffler in the absolute center back their.
My I pipe slipped out the back of my Mufflex Y pipe for my LTs (as usual...because its not welded) so my exhaust was hanging low with a steel rod in the I pipe and Y pipe to keep the I pipe off the ground.
I was driving and I saw this huge street cover so I came to a complete stop, then inch over it and bamn. The I pipe got caught on the thing and got waded and twisted up, so I cut it off.
Since im not gonna waste money on another cat back, im just gonna put my Maxflow muffler on the back of the Mufflex Y pipe and be done with all this.
RedLeader289 - do you have any more pics of the mufflers but from the sides back their?

I have about 4-5" of clearance on the lowest hanging part. BUT I'm also running 275/60/R15 tires in the back, which give me an inch more height than stock tires.

Re: Any body have their muffler mounted infront of the rear end?
Do u have any sound samples or a video of how ur exhaust setup sounds like? I have the exact same setup I'm waiting to install on my 91rs. Just waiting for payday to get my o2 sensors

It's a pretty loud setup and allows for the engine to breathe nice and plenty. I'm running totally old school though, no O2 sensors or cats or anything. If I can remember I will try to record it tonight when I get home, should have it up by tomorrow.

I don't, it sounds very similar to the example that they put up on their website though for the "Thrush Welded Mufflers"

Here's what mine sounds like. It is idling a little lower than usual in Park because it wasn't warmed up. I didn't have a good place to put the camera in order to hear it while it was in Drive but you get the idea.
That buzzing that you hear is my fuel pump (holley blue pump) lol.

FYI typically my idle is at about 950 in Park, and between 650-675 in Drive.
In the Video it was idling at about 750 (since it wasn't warmed up).
I never realized how loud that fuel pump was though, haha.

I have a single thrush welded 2.5 inch in/out in the catcon area with 2.5 inch pipe from the turbo to right next to/just below the driveshaft. Terminates before the rear axle, but doesn't come past the back of the side windows. So where I live its technically not legal. But there is nothing but mud trucks running open headers by me so you can see why it doesn't really matter.
You can see in the last pic, it doesn't hang down at all past the ground fx. I also welded a bolt to the muffler and reused the catcon bracket to hold the muffler up. Works great. Though I do have a turbo, so your pipe routing may have to be different.

Nothing "personal" man but, that is actual the worst iv seen, even by "thirdgen" standards.
I started this thread in June, its now September. The title says "...muffler mounted -in front- of the rear end". Not pointed out the side from under the "cat hump".
(the hump in the floor)

No, I paid money for quality parts with quality work done to them. Did you?
