I am currently on my second aerochamber muffler in the past 1.5 years. I keep having problems with the internals coming loose and rattling inside the muffler. I love the way the aerochamber sounds but if they won't last longer then a year I'm going to go to something different. My question is how does the spintech crossflow compare as far as flow and performance? I don't mind it being a little louder as long as it doesn't drone terribly on the hwy. any input is appreciated. reason for asking is iv heard that people could feel the spintech holding the car back after switching from a free flowing muffler and I don't want to sacrifice and performance.

i really like the sound of my aerochamber, mine has lasted longer than yours. the spintech will drone, and i've heard from multiple sources that they don't flow very well in the crossflow configuration.

i had a spintech sportsman 3000 series on my el camino, it sounded awesome, but was noisey in the cab.

one of the reasons i went for the aerochamber was because i heard the spintech crossflow was lacking. the maxflow muffler from hooker has a similar sound, not sure if they have a crossflow or not, or you could go to a dynomax ultraflow.

Yea I have been through 2 aerochamber and both have developed rattles. The latter having an even worse rattle. And I switched from a dyno max ultra flo cross flow and I like the hooker alot better as far as sound goes.

I got a Spintech cross flow. Can't tell you performance difference, but its got a nice sound. No drone inside, and its been on 6+ years now. Hope it helps

I've had the Hooker Aerochamber on my car since 2006.....no issues and still sounds great.

I wonder if thats due to your location? Humidity rusting it out?

No experience with the Spinflow (haven't heard one in person), but I love the way the Hooker Aerochamber sounds.

I wonder the same thing but noone else around here has that problem.....we don't get snow and I'm a couple hours away from the coast. Both mufflers sound like they have one single piece come loose on the inside that rattles around..... I talked to hooker and they refuse to send another replacement. Is there just a huge bad batch of aerochamber crossflows? Iv looked it up an this is getting to be a common thing with this style muffler and they will not acknowledge it

Honestly, nothing crossflow will flow as well as a straight through design, you have to split the exhaust flow and then turn half of it completely around. At best most crossflow mufflers will flow similarly to a similar sized turbo muffler, so if you care about performance you probably want to go with a standard muffler.

As far as the hooker aerochamber, I feel that they're some of the best sounding mufflers out there for a street car (just the right combination of frequency, more aggressive/louder without being obnoxious, good flow better than the typical flowmaster but not as good as a straight through like the dynomax ultraflow, hooker maxflow...). I've never had one or heard of one falling apart, though I have seen a maxflow fall apart which uses a similar case. Spintech's seem to be a mixed bag- they sound awesome on some cars, and only OK on others, and flow really well on some and not on others. Honestly, I haven't quite figured out the difference besides that they are all laid out slightly differently inside, but haven't figured out how to predict what does what. I have no experience with the f-body crossflow in normal sizes, but I can tell you that the 4" in/ 2x3" out sounds great and seems to flow well.

I am running a 3inch spintech straight through 1 in 1 out and it is great I don't know the performance to it as I changed engine and everything with the exhaust but it sound great

Does anyone think adding a resonator like the slp loudmouth 1 might help keep the drone down? Many factory performance cars have resonators from the factory, nothing but an open chamber really....

My gtp has mufflers at the end of the tailpipe, and it came factory with a resonator. I once thought id take the resonator and cat out when i put maggies and headers-but the exhaust sounded horrible without the resonator. Put the resonator back on and it sounds great. It is however a S/C 3800 six, which can sound pretty terrible in some exhausts.
