another 2460 vs 2055. But I need a little help!

I'm trying to plan the exhaust set up for my 350 that's going in and i'm looking at either the hooker 2460's or the 2055's. I hear everyone complaining about how the y pipe for the hooker 2460's goes down to 2.5 inches. Can't the last foot just be cut off and replaced with a 3 inch pipe? My friend works at an exhaust shop and could do this no problem. Then the 2055 have a choked down y pipe at the collector, but 3 inch at the end. I also do not have the AIR system anymore. The 2460's are a little cheaper than 2055 are. My car will be making about 350hp at the crank. Any help or guidance is appreciated!

The 2460s don't come with a Y-pipe

Honestly get the 2460's and the doug's D901 y-pipe. It bolts right up to the 2460's and is MUCH cheaper than the Hooker y pipe. I cut off the 2.5 outlet, grinded out some of the welding flash from where the pipes come together and welding up a 3 inch outlet no problem. I've done this on TWO different Camaro's with no issues. The 2055's are nice and I've had both sets (2460's AND 2055's) and the 2055's honestly were more of a bitch to get right than the 2460's.

thanks i'll look into it. So is the y pipe for the 2460's or the D901 all 3 inch with the last foot or so being 2.5? Or is the whole thing 2.5"?

The yare 2.5 from both collectors into a 2.5 inch outlet. The outlet is VERY EASY to cut off and have a 3inch welded on.

Did you buy a piece of curved pipe or make one?

Luckily I have a header shop here in town that sells individual u bends and I bought one to make it. Hoestly try your local pick n pull and ask them if they sell sections of exhaust pipe. Look for newer Dodges and Chevy trucks. They come stock with 3 inch mandrel tubing. I picked up enough tubing to do TWO cars for about 40 bucks at the one in my town.

That will work just fine but you might have to cut an inch or two off after the y pipe so it doesn't stick out so far. Should be fine
