Hedman Header Install

I just installed a set of Hedman headers on my 1989 Iroc Z. These are shorty 1 5/8" headers, I scored the headers and Y pipe on ebay for $99.

They arrived rusty and in need of wire wheeling and paint

I soaked the exhaust manifold bolts in Liquid Wrench, and they came out easily:

On the driver's side, the easiest way to install the header was to take the steering shaft loose (1 bolt), and remove the valve cover (4 torx bolts), and the header just dropped in from the top.

On the passenger side, the header installed easily from the top. Not sure if this would be the case if I had not swapped to the non-ac heater box, but if you don't have A/C that is one of the best mods you can do. Easy spark plug swaps, easy access to the motor, etc.

I used "Made for You" valve cover looms designed for Center Bolt valve covers. They keep the wires off the headers and look great in my opinion.

Overall I am very pleased with the installation, just wanted to share that a header install isn't always such a PITA. If you want to see more check out my blog: http://burtonracing.blogspot.com/

VHT high temp 1400* paint, several coats. I fully expect it to burn off for the record.

It may work okay... I'd like to see the results as Ive been wanting to do that myself. I saw some after a while that... looked not great, but it did stay on, but not sure if its the same paint.

This saved my a ton of frustration thank you. I started pulling motor mount bolts and lifting up the engine etc.. This was super easy on the driver side. Thanks again1

YEs still being useful!!
