How to disconnect Air tube from Cat?
I'm in the process of disassembling my car. I want to remove engine soon and will need to know how to take out the exhaust, cat and air system.
My car has dual cats stock and the prior owner had custom dual exhaust installed from cats on back. Looking at the exhaust, everything is welded together (see first pic). I would like to save down pipes, cats and air tubes and store them. I'm thinking of cutting exhaust pipes after cats with a saws all and then unbolting down pipes form headers. This would free the exhaust and cats. However, I still need to disconnect air tube lines from cats.
The cats have an air tube welded on that press fit into another tube that connects to air system near intake. Can I pull these two tubes apart? Looks like it might be a very tight connection and not possible. Wondering if anybody has done this or will I just have to cut the air lines. If I cut, could I always weld them back together with a pipe union piece? I will not be having air system on my rebuild so it's just more of a restoration/storage issue.
