Custom True Dual Exhaust
Over the weekend we picked up a pair of Hedman 68460 LT Headers, some knock off cherry bombs, and 2.5in S-bands all in a trade for a set of shorty headers. The car is a 1984 H.O Trans Am, with a 350 in it. I plan to make a custom cross member, any ideas would be awesome, to get some more exhaust clearance but as of now it only scrapes when coming in and out of driveways and it barley scrapes. Also we are going to put an H-Pipe in and run the exhaust out under the door in front of the tires. One quick question are the muffler on right. The baffles are facing away from exhaust flow and im not sure if that is helping to lower the noise. Any feedback is welcomed and well as suggestions. BY Auto Repair in NY did all the work for me and did a fantastic Job, let me know if u need to contact them!
You see how the baffles are not facing towards the exhaust flow? Is that right im not sure.

you bastard! I just got rid of the shorties too, sold em to a friend. Thinking of picking a set of Hedman longtubes up again but in D port form for the lt1.
Looks very clean. What part did they use for the clamps on the crossmember? Take some side shots showing the clearance. I was gonna have a local shop make a custom y pipe for me but still thinking of duals.

the cherry bombs dont have an inlet and outlet labeled on them? As far as I know you want the louvers facing the exhaust flow so it grabs the exhaust and directs them thru the muffler to lower the exhaust sound down some.

They are summit glasspacks. They did have a label showing the inlet.

I guess they are right if you followed the inlet and outlet instructions.

That sounds quiet to me. I like the hangers off the crossmember, did you use the original hanger thats mounted to the trans also?

Re: Custom True Dual Exhaust
Do you still like the setup? I just bought some 68460 headers for $50. I am hoping to get the car all set up with this 350 in it, and as I have everything ready for V8 I will be looking for a better motor.
I basically am asking you if the headers are working out well, and if your car is stock ride height, do you have trouble with ground clearance? I fell like the dual exhaust is "tacky" on our Camaros, but we don't have much choice. Unless you have over $500 so spend on the y-pipe, and all that stuff. I'm just trying to get it running, and a basic setup like what you have will get me started.
How do you like it with the duals, as far as ground clearance? I live near Detroit, and our Michigan roads can be pretty nasty.
