true duals
My car is totally stock and has a hole in the exhaust. I was wondering if true duals would be bad on a stock car. I want more horsepower, but I want to keep the low and middle power. What brand/ measurement/ configuration should I go with? I really want true duals, is there a way to do them without destroying the power band?

Re: true duals
If you are not planning to do any upgading to the motor itself(and making over 350 crank horsepower)then you would be basicly wasting your money to run a "true" duel setup(of any size). A high-flow cat and a good 2.5" cat-back system will give you a mean sound(many to choose from--sounds that is---search around the forum and listen to some clips)and still keep your power the same. You gotta keep in mind that as the motor breaths better(in and out)youre powerband will naturally go up the tach.

Re: true duals
other mods I might possibly do:
headers
l69 snorkle
hotter cam, but not so hot that it idles like crap
possibly different heads, to change the compression ratio
this is all theoretical... I don't plan on doing any of this anytime soon and I don't know what I want to do for sure yet.
I'd just like to have a few more HP to play with, and I want it to sound and breathe good.
And I was told that modding a car destroys its value, is this true? Almost everything is original and in excellent shape, I don't want to screw it up.
----------
I'd like it to run low 16's or 15's and 0-60 in 7's.

Thats kind of performance is WELL within the capabilities of a good hi-flow cat and a 2.5" cat back system off of ANY shorty header and y-pipe on the market (I'd go 1 5/8" primary by 2.5" collector and the matching y-pipe for the header). I have heard good things about the Hooker cat back system as far as all around sound-----meaner than stock but not obnoxious. In that case it would be wise to go Hooker from heads out to tail.

Re: true duals
true duals is waayyyy to much for a 305, even if its modded out the wazoo. ur LG4 is def not a performance motor by anymeans so even if u put heads/cam/intake etc a single exhaust is more than adequate. i would go with a edelbrock/headman shorty header setup with ypipe and highflow cat(if u need for inspection) and a single mandrel bent catback...some good catbacks are flowmaster, edelbrock, SLP, borla, etc... depends on the budget and tone u want... personally i like the edelbrocks catback bc it has a nice tone... the flowmasters tend to have bad reasonance and the borla/SLP are lots of $$$.
i put true 3" duals off my headman longtubes but it was compression bent so it was really only like 2.5" at the sharpest bend but i also have the 350TPI thats lightly modded, i just recently went with mandrel bent extensions and mandrel bend 3" X-pipe and the tone is much better and i love the xpipe but ive def lost lowend grunt bc the exhaust is too much for my 350, but my 383 is gona put that to work!!!

Re: true duals
Wow much hate for the true Duals idea, I say go for it and run dual 2in pipe with Hedman long tube headers. You can run 2 1/4 or 2in pipe without losing much ground clearance, just be sure to add an H pipe if you want it to make power, skip it if you're just after the sound. I also recommend Classic Chambered mufflers for a true duals setup, you can get them to tuck pretty neatly into the trans tunnel.

Re: true duals
No hate for the duels.............just that from whet he has stated he wants it would be a HUGE wast of money, time, and effort. A single 2.5" system will outflow a duel 2.25" and will be much more cost effective.

Re: true duals
i have 3" all the way, an upgrade from the 2" by far. Magnaflow hi-performance cat/muffler.
sounds sweet and not too costly (around $600-700 dependin on where you get your parts and who does it... i dont have a welder so i had it professionaly done =/)
sounds mean for a V6, no poping or anything like that. once its all pretty ill show you a sound clip ^^

I go to either Edgewater, IRP (now ORP) in Indy, or Bean Blossom. Edgewater and ORP are 1/4 mile strips and Bean Blossom is an 1/8th mile strip. I actually live in Southern Indiana so it's a decent drive to any of these tracks.

Is that by Evansville? I'm SE, so I'm closer to Ohio than anything else really.
