does not exsist, you would have to home-make everything or have a shop do it.

Re: dual for 2.8

I'm not trying to cut you up, just maybe being a little blunt. It would be a complete waste of money. You would not gain an ounce of power, not to mention how bad it would sound.

Re: dual for 2.8

It does sound cackly no matter what you do. However you can get duals put on a 2.8 with small pipe (dual 2in or so) just make sure you get an H pipe, the smaller pipe will tuck up easily. I have duals on my 4.3 liter S10 and it's awesome idling and cruising but WOT at 3k it really shows that it's a V6. It was WAY worse with the duals and no H pipe, it also lost power vs. the single exhaust but now that it's H piped it's gained the power back and sounds way better.

Re: dual for 2.8

I know it will not do a thing as far as power and i do'nt think it would sound any worse than it sounds now, i just like the look.

Re: dual for 2.8

well you can always just use the flowmaster 80 series and still have dual exit exhaust but it wont be a true dual. you can have the look of two exhaust pipes with out killing power by gaining back pressure b/c our 2.8s can filled too much space not like the V8. so leave the 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 w/e it is and just hook up a high flow cat and a flowmaster 80 series... if you really want to you can get pacesetter headers too but dont expect too much performance from all of this the 2.8's will never gain much unless you really overhaul the car.

Re: dual for 2.8

I have a rhino performance muffler with dual tips I'll sell you pretty cheap, it sounded great on my 305 TBI.

Re: dual for 2.8

hey my old 2.8 camaro had a single in dual out muffler on it and it had a nice rumble to it... i actually got complements on the way it sounded... it was just some old muffler... id say the flowmaster 80 or somthing to that effect would be good. but there is mufflers that you can get.

Re: dual for 2.8

I agree with what has already been posted about loosing power. Most of the guys are running the dynamax catback system on their V6 it is single in dual out. I am personally running it and it does give the car that low tone you want but does not give the "Bee Buzz" when you are in the throtle. While you are at it throw on a high flow convereter. Dynamax Makes one if you like everything to match, but a lot of guys run the Catco one.

Re: dual for 2.8

You dont want true duals on a V6. the engine needs the backpressure but you can do what i did and i have the pacesetter headers, high flow cat, 2 1/2 inch pipe with flowmaster 80 series that has dual tailpipes coming out and sounds great. My friend could hear me a half a mile in front of him with his radio all the way up and doing 50mph and I was WOT. In the morning when i start up my car it shakes my house.

Re: dual for 2.8

Did you order a new mid pipe? Are you still using the stock cat? what size Flowmaster 80 is it 2 1/2 or 3"? the stock midpipe is 2 1/4" so this does effect sound. And the stock cat does restrict some of the sound which effects sound.

Re: dual for 2.8

back pressure = bad. ALWAYS!
flow velocity = good

Anyone have dyno numbers showing a loss of power with a 3" or dual exhuast on the v6? I've seen improvements on the dyno, but no numbers for this supposed loss.

Re: dual for 2.8

The supposed loss occurs when people either move the Y pipe, or run duals without the H or X pipe installed. They think "wow it lost power must be the backpressure it needs", it's not. You can use to large of pipe and lose some power but I don't feel a pair of 2in duals would be way overkill on a 2.8, I also don't think a 3in single would be overkill. Overbuilt maybe but not hurting anything.
