Edelbrock TES Flange / Tube Rework

Has anyone reworked the flange opening of the Edelbrock TES, to accomodate a cylinder head with a (much) larger than stock exhaust port? It has been several years since I installed my TES's ( so I don't recall if there is flange material that can be removed), but by looking at the exhaust port on my AFR Eliminator 195's I'm sure there will be some blockage of the port from the header flange, and possibly from the header tube. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Chances are better than not you may run out of material if they are 1 5/8 primaries. Do the heads have a raised exhaust floor?

Re: Edelbrock TES Flange / Tube Rework

The literature from AFR says "exhaust port is raised .100" over GM L98 cylinder heads". I'm not sure if that means the whole port is raised, or if the roof of the port is raised (making the port .100" taller than stock). I haven't torn the engine down yet to compare the port to the header flange opening, but the port looks HUGE. I trying to hook up with a set of Dyno Don's headers!
Thanx for the reply,
Bill

I suspect you'll run out of tube to make it work. However I *did* rework my TES headers for my AFR195's but I couldn't safely open it up enough to match the exhaustt port of the head. I lived with the port blockage for one summer and now I'm moving to Hooker long tubes that are 100% gasket matched to the cylinder heads. Nice heads, BTW. I wouldn't mind switching to those heads myself some day.
