If you are using your car for limited street use and mostly drags, I can see removing your cats. But your sig says you are mostly stock. I wouldn't remove them until after you do some serious mods.

I have a Random Tech cat, and I've used a straight pipe. The RT SHF cat is just increadibly close to my straight pipe. So much so, the bypass pipe is sitting in my basement for now. I almost see no reason to reinstall it. I'm looking at the GM Goodwrench performance cat back, too. Those 2 together should do some nice things to my power levels....It's aluminized and $280..Just a thought...

OK guys i asked you how to get the cats off, not weither what kind i should have or if i should have them, now i know my car is basically stock, but it all takes time, and you just dont do everything at one jump, you have to work your way up the the top.
and i am taking them off, since one was clogged, and it broke itself loose, and i like the sound with out them, and yes there is a different sound!
now what does it take to get them off? i dont have my car here at my house so i cant look at it. if i did i wouldnt be asking.

Hey jarrad,
Those cats are going to be rusted on big time. You'll probably have to cut them off with a torch, pipe cutter, or even a saw-zall. good luck.

Hey, so happens that I have my factory dual cat pipe assembly sitting on the patio in my yard. Each cat is WELDED, front and back, to the pipes. No bolts here. Time to break out the hacksaw. LOL.

I am in the middle of cat elimination on my '90 L98. I already have the thru-pipes in place and am ready to weld everything back together. I am going to drill a hole in the bottom of the converter shell to allow the air injection tube to vent to the outside. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. I cut my pipes in front of the cats so I could have a continuous weld on the upstream side of the thru-pipes.
