pros and cons of various headers

OK, I need to buy a complete exhaust to replace the factory crap. I recently had a 350 built to replace the 305 (RIP). I got the PN for the flowmaster catback i was looking for, jeg's 17234. The only thing I'm concerned about is the 2.5" cat attachment. I should be able to cut that back to the 3" section, right? Now the headers. What I'm looking for is the easiest fit, with no AIR tubes (if possible) and a 3" collector. Price is also a major concern (sorry guys, no SLP's). Any suggestions?

If you dont want SLP's, then anything but Edelbrock. Look at Hooker, Hedman, Dynomax, etc.

It's not that I don't want SLP's, just can't afford them. I'm just looking for the easiest fitting set as I will be putting them on myself. I've heard that the Edelbrock's are the best for this, what do you think? All things being equal, I would probably go with Hooker (constant pipe diameter from each cylinder), how do they fit? Sorry for all the Q's and thanx for any replies.
