Ordered the Hooker cat-back....

Hope it's worth it. Ordered it from Jegs. I've done business with Summit before, and they were pretty knowledgable.

There iternet site didn't list a system for a VIN 7, so I hope I ended up with the correct one. Part 520-16822. I would like the performance without irritating noise. I've been there and done that so far as noisy exhaust goes. Guess I'll find out Tuesday...



I also got a Weiand Action + intake.

I just got it installed about 2 days ago, very happy with the results. I thought it would be a little louder, but then again the packing will probably settle after a week or two. Still a very aggressive sound especially with a good cam. I ordered the 520-16822 too and had an exhaust guy install it for me becouse the the flange had to be cut and I also had bought a universal catco cat and i needed about a foot of piping welding in for it. The guy said $40 before but I guess it was such a bitch to install that he ended up charging $70. A little more than I wanted to spend but then again I saved $60 by buying the wrong catback and another $40 by not buying a direct fit cat.

I like the sound alot, but the tips are almost a little ***** for me. Still a good system and I'm glad just not to sound like every other blowmaster equipped SUV and truck out there.

you can't go wrong with this set up. I have had people come up to me at stores just to tell me that my car is the best sounding car they've ever heard. I $hit you not. It's happened many many times with this system. I have SLP tri-Y headers, with the hooker catback. ENJOY:lala:

Hey, thanks for the comments fellas....

I am still kinda kicking myself for putting a new Maremont muffler and tail pipe on it 6 months ago - and now buying this. Glad to hear the positive comments on the Hooker!!

But I figured, I got the headers, so why keep the rest of it stock? I'm also hoping the Weiand intake will wake it up even more!
I'm lovin the power it has without these things - but it's my money pit. Thinkin about gettin personal plates that say just that..."MNY PIT".

Thanks Roostmeyer - That means they'll most likely bolt right up on mine. I have a 4 bolt flange on each end of my CAT!! Was yours a 4 bolt??

I can't remember exactly what type of flange was on it but the prob. was that the 83-85 HO converters had an oval "monolithic" mouth to them, so the pipe is ovalized to match up. Its simple though just cut about 6 inches off the intermediat pipe and weld a pipe from it to the converter. I still would suggest buying the $200 system and modifying it... still cheaper and the cost can go to a having an exhuast shop install it for you. If you still have an original/direct fit converter I don't know what I would do. I would go ahead a replace the converter with a universal catco cat for $80(w/air tube). As for the exhaust guy, my dad has helped him out on his car before and he does all the exhaust work for the dealership my dad works at, so he may of cut us a little bit of deal.

Sorry - I didn't make it clearer - I have had my old monolythic convertor replaced about 6 or so months ago with a hi flow cat.

The flanges that were on the old cat were welded on the new cat. So I should be able to bolt this system up without welding - right??

BTW...Ok - all is forgiven Mark. I don't weld either. That's why I'm having my "Suspension Guy" weld my SFC's in next month.

Well since Im not running a cat (it ran away last year sometime ) Im just getting the 200 dollar one and cutting the flange off and getting pipe welded in. May just get the pipe from work and half *** install it myself. Then just have everything welded up. I should hope I dont get charged more than 50$ for that.

Im getting TES headers I think. So I will pretty much be running marks old setup. He didnt have the 3'' y pipe, he had a cat, and he had horrible compression. Im hoping it will be alittle louder than his. I do love the sound of the hooker catbacks tho. I have a feeling im gonna be disspointed tho...since im going from duals and all. :rockon:
