edlebrock or SLP?

Hey guys. I was wondering which headers are better, the Edlebrock TES or SLP headers. I have an '88 GTA Trans Am TPI 305. Everything is stock except for the flowmaster muffler, hypertech air foil and performance chip, and K&N air filter. so with these mods, would i expect to see a greater HP gain with Edlebrock or SLP? thanks.

SLP headers are better, in my opinion.

I will not pick a side.
But I installed a set of used Edelbrock TES headers on my 305TPI/Auto last week and I'm shocked about the power unleashed. The install was fairly easy, the motor wasn't moved and the starter was left in place. The Y pipe tucked under better than my stock Y pipe. The header flange is nice and thick, which resists warpage. I sand blasted mine system and than sprayed 1200 degree black VHT paint so far so good. the O2 bung is close to the heat and a heated O2 dosen't seem neccessary. After bolting on the air foils, pulleys, chip, Flowmaster over the years. the headers finally allowed those components to truly come into play. These headers really woke my 305 up. Yes I lost a little torque in the low range, but the gains in mid and upper are great. As for SLP I have experience with their headers on 4th Gens. They have good products and a good history of support. You need to look at 2 things price and future mods. All headers are a pain to install and their power difference is slight on lightly modded engines. Sorry about the long story and this is just my bloodied knuckle opinion.

I have the TES, and I am very happy with them. I do however think that the SLPs are better both in quality and performance, but I don't know if they are $100+ better.

I like the SLP headers. There are a pain to install but the results are worth it. Just my .02 cents.

On a stock motor used on the streat the edelbrocks are probably better for performance. But for ultimate top end hp you need to go with the larger primaries on the slp's.

In summit racing catalog, SLP's made more power on a 383 than Edelbrock TES.

Of course, I'm biased, I have the SLP's, they're bigger, stainless steel, better seal and gaskets, warranteed for life, and have 1 3/4" primaries. Bigger long-term power gains, and high-quality. Down side is their cost, good god, normally only Borla is that high I say go for the SLP's though, overall, I think you'll prefer them in the long run, although plug clearance will be an issue. Change out all that first, then install, use good platinum plugs and high quality wires. Good luck!

From the people I've talked to and heard on here, the plug access is better on SLP headers than on Edelbrocks.
