Exhaust Question
Hi Everyone!
I'm trying to put new exhaust on my '92 RS. With the car on jackstands I had to cut the old pipe off to get it out over the axle. It looks like the car has to be on a rack in order to put the new pipe in. Is this true or are there some tricks I can use?

What kind of exhaust are you trying to put on? When I originally put the V8 into my car, I had a welded 2-3/4" factory take-off system from cat to tips to put on it. I took off the track bar, right-side lower control arm and park brake cable (and tire), and slipped it into place while on jack stands.

Axle/Gears: 3.42
Another thing you could try doing is moving your jackstands. If they are under the rear end, move them forward. Then the axle should drop low enough for you to put the pipe over it.

Thanks for the suggestions. My son told me they have a rack in auto shop and he may be able to work on it in school. Looks like I got a face full of rust for nothing.

Duh, I forgot to mention the shock. It has to come off to allow the axle to drop.
I'm not sure a lift would help much here. You have to be able to support the axle while you've got everything unhooked.
