Help with UK Insurance.

Hi Guy’s,
My insurance is up in a couple of days and I’d like to know if anyone can recommend a company here in the U.K.

I’m currently with Adrian Flux who gave me a great offer last year of £190 for my 1991 Firebird. It was much less than the MCE insurance I had previous and hoped that it would have at least stayed the same for next year. However, I’ve just received my quote for next year and its £235!!
I’ve heard people paying £90 for their insurance and can’t work out why I’m being charged so much!

I only use my car for 6 months of the year, its locked away now until next (late) April and I’ll probably only get 800 miles or so out of it again so I don’t want to be paying nearly as much as I pay for my everyday van!!
Any names, web sites or numbers would be a big help.

Cheers, Speed.

Re: Help with UK Insurance.

Let us know what they quote you. Mine is due up before the end of the year and I'll soon be phoning round for prices. Never heard of anyone paying only £90! I'm currently with Adrian Flux but have been with MCE in the past also. Are you in a club as some policys will be cheaper if you are in a club.

Re: Help with UK Insurance.

Ok so I called Footman James and I managed to get my cover for £200. I called
Adrian Flux to make sure they didn't try to renue my cover and they wanted to see if they could beat my quote! I told them they sould have done that in the first place. Insurance company's do my head in doing that, what happend to rewarding your loyalty.

Anyway, we're covered again for next year so let's hope they can lower my payment next year.

Speed.

Re: Help with UK Insurance.

Bah, don't get me started on UK insurance. I have a 305 TBI Camaro and I was with MCE. Insurance was going to be £250. That's with 14 years NCB and a limited mileage policy. Decided that I'll leave it uninsured over the winter and see what the spring brings! Will try Footman James too. Cheers for the heads up Coalface

Re: Help with UK Insurance.

If you become a member of the "Pontiac Owners Club UK you can get a discount on insurance from Adrian Flux, not sure muchc, but at least 20% over standard prices.

Re: Help with UK Insurance.

Stop whining! You should just know how lucky you guys are! The first year I insured my '87 5L firebird in Norway, I paid 17000 NOK, that is about £ 1850. And that was for minimum milage! Now I only pay £ 1400 a year for full insurance. Or half the amount for minimum insurance. So please stop whining about £ 200-300 a year!
