Welcome. There is an almost endless supply of information (and opinion) here. And no, you're not alone up there. I've seen at least a couple of profiles from Scotland. I don't know if you can search on profiles to look for specific locations.

Hi Tommy and welcome to the boards. There are at least two of us in Glasgow, the south side to be exact. Where are you located?

Wow! Did not expect to hear from anyone up here!
I stay in Finnieston but my garage is in Shawlands. Heres a few snaps of the new beast. 50 points to anyone who spots the major difference....

Right hand drive! Interesting looking car, I'd be interested in seeing it when the weather improves. Where did you get the car and is this your first US car?
I've seen quite a few 3rd gens around Glasgow, but you're only the 3rd person to be on this site. These cars are great for modifying, do you have any plans for it?
btw, when I have to take my car in for repairs or anything like that I use Waverley Motors in Shawlands. He's the only guy I trust to drive my car without joyriding it and putting it into a wall.

Rmk, your more than welcome to come over and pass an experienced eye over her. It's my first yank so no idea where it rates in the decency stakes. Bought it from a fella from Shropshire.
I'm fairly experienced in the tinkering stakes, this one replaces a tt supra I did a lot of work on, and I've built some special cars in the past. Won't have much hassle with repairs on this I don't think.
The dash is now out as it has more electrical faults than a 30 year old alfa Romeo. Might make up a new dash for it as the conversion was done in oz. The mechanical side of it is spot on but the little touches in the finish are sorely lacking.
Will get a few threads up for help with the wiring and such, once that's sorted the t5 box is whining in 2nd and the release bearing is moaning, do the box will be out.
Performance wise, it's running a Rochester quadrajet so I might look at swapping for a beefy holley on advisement. Have got a pair of tube headers to go on, a custom exhaust will follow that, then who knows?

Hello all! :-) Another Scot here - from Edinburgh. Got my '88 Iroc 5.7 TPI back in September and I love it!
Been using thirdgen.org a lot for info/advice and thought I'd join. I know Stackofire who's on here,
he's got a red '91 Z28, also met a guy from the west coast (can't recall his name, Brian perhaps?)
who has a silver '84 Z28-E.
Anyway, here's my car - currently has Stacko's old 18" chrome wheels on, but I'm going to put the original
16" Iroc wheels back on (as much as I love custom cars, I like the laziness of keeping it stock! ):
Here it is beside my first yank, a '78 Monte Carlo - comparing pe-I mean engine sizes:
And here it is beside the other two I mentioned earlier at a show last September:

Very nice vehicles. I had a '67 Firebird with a transplanted 455HO when I lived there. I'm realy glad I don't have to pay your petrol prices any more but gas is creeping up here (CA) too.
ZZ42 I went to Lanchester poly long before any of these cars were built! Depressing.

Aye and wear kilts and call each other Jock! Hehe :P
Cheers ZZ
Thanks Base Sounds awesome! Bet that was quite a machine. I know a guy with a '72 TA 455 HO, he
had a '69 Firebird before that the lucky git! Our fuel prices are beyond ridiculous, that's the main reason
I already own my car when I'm only 24 - I'm worried I won't be able to afford it the way things are going.

I used to live in Edinburgh until 8 years ago but now I live in Florida, never had a Camaro in Scotland but I bought one here and am currently restoring her. The engine and body are OK needs a tune up and a partial new interior

Sounds good man, always up for a car gathering. Also know of a few more thirdgens in the area since my last post.
I must admit admit I am also a multi-forum-offender.

I'm up for meeting up at some point too as I'm sure another local, DrG, would also be up for it.
Other forums? That's odd...

How much is it now? I remember it was about 90 ish pence a liter when I left but you could sometimes get it a penny or two cheaper at Tesco's or some other stores station
What part of Edinburgh are you from? I was born in the meadowbank area and lived in the Jewel area for a while and Corstorphine before moving out to Livingston for a few years and then Mountcastle and eventually Here

You've been around a bit then! I'm from Inverleith/Warriston (between Leith and Trinity) sometimes tempted to just get out of the city as it's so damn expensive... my "parking permit" just went up from £80 a year to £210. Thankfully cars made before 2001 are charged on engine size, not emissions - if mine was newer than 2001 I'd be paying about twice that! Taxing council fascist pig scum toilet drinking waste of space oxygen thieves! Insurance is £600 odd third party, road tax is £200 odd. I should just move to the US!

Re: Scotland check in
It's on average £1.35 a litre - pretty much £6 (or $10) a gallon, although UK gallons are slightly smaller than US. Yeah if you shop around you can save up to 3 or 4p a litre.

Ah right I always get it mixed up haha. Cheers! I'm very happy with it and does turn a few heads... most people think it's a Trans Am though - especially when I have the T-Tops off. I've given up correcting them.

Also use American Auto Club UK, although haven't been on much recently: http://www.american-auto-club.co.uk/ They're good for insurance discount.

Re: Scotland check in
Hello, are there still some folks from Scotland here?
I'm in Scotland and desperate to get my hands on 3rd gen Trans Am.
Doing research into owning one first - can you guys advise on how available parts are, and where to find them?
Cheers,
Roy

Re: Scotland check in
Just love the look of them, probably cos I grew up watching Knight Rider I guess haha
Finding it hard to source what I want in the UK so looking into importing probably...
If I'm doing this I really want to get the right one - looking for T Tops, black interior, reasonably clean, good mechanically. Don't like the last lot with the restyled nose though.
Wish list digital dash, 350 later 80's if possible as the power started to increase.
Any particularly good/helpful place in the US to buy parts from?
Thanks

Re: Scotland check in
I order mine from:
Ricks camaro
but there is also:
Ecklers To be honest i coudnt find anyting in UK.
all from USA.
So my advice better pay more for car in good condition then latter import all parts bcuse price of parts could be cheap but import shippment and tax much

Re: Scotland check in
Great, thanks! Good to know where people go to rather than just me randomly googling!
Yeah I bet shipping and tax is a nightmare. That's why I'm hoping to find something mechanically sound, bodywork doesn't scare me though.
Interior, yeah, needs to be pretty good.

Hi Roy,
no other specific forum of third generation club in the U.K. that I know of. The problem in the U.K. now is finding a car. 20 years ago it was easy but a lot of them have disappeared unfortunately. I’ve personally never had an issue buying the basic parts to keep them running over in the U.K. and only ever bought performance parts in the US and imported.
