Car clubs

I'm thinking o joining a car club but not sure of what's out there. Does anyone know if there is a Camaro or Chevrolet owners club and if so what are the details?

Is anyone else in a club? Which one?

Thanks.

Im sure there must be, i joined the Pontiac Owners club uk.
I thought about a few of the more "universal" auto clubs, but plumped for a specific one instead. I doubt i'm going to be doing the "shows" much, i have'nt got the time or inclination for camping.

http://www.motorvatinusa.org.uk/ seems to include Chevy.

Thanks for the reply. £30 is a bit on the steep side for membership I think, but it looks like I'll be saving a lot on insurance because of it so it would pay off anyway. I'll see what other clubs there are and what they offer, but that one has the benefits of the magazines etc.

I'm in AACUK :-

UK Membership £25.00 £20.00
UK Membership Joint £30.00 £25.00
International Membership £30.00 £25.00
International Joint £30.00 £25.00

2nd value is renewal fee. You get quite a nice club comic each month too

RMK, check out Classic American magazine for a list of UK based clubs. I've been in most of the UK national clubs at some time or other, now I've settled for the Pontiac Owners Club Uk & of course our local informal meets.

Does membership of a car club really make a difference to the cost of insurance, or do they just say it does? Has anyone had them lower/refund some premium when you joined a car club?

Pardon me for not trusting insurance companies.....

I have just renewed my insurance and they offered me a £70 saving if I was a member of a club. By being a member the broker was able to insure me with a company that otherwise would not have insured me. They seem to look at it that people that own classic & American cars, who are also in clubs, take extreme care of their cars as they are a pride and joy rather than a far more common car that can easily be replaced.

I will have a look through Classic American tomorrow on my lunch break and see what clubs there are. I think I can get cheaper than AACUK, and although they offer magazines etc, I really just need the membership for proof should the insurance company require to see some. Although, the Broker did say there was nothing to stop me joining a local club, and that it wouldn't need to be national. "RMK 3rd Gen club - Where the black ones are faster than the white!" Guess that solved that problem, just have to print me off a membership card.

Yikes! I didn't think they would offer anything like that amount of discount.

Just curious as to what others pay for insurance. For me its:
85 iroc, 3,000miles max, 2 years no claims, central edinburgh, private street parking, stated value 5,000, have 2nd car with 6+ years no claims, 27 year old, fair amount of non-performance mods, no car club membership, with Adrian Flux for 324quid plus 45 for breakdown cover.

Personally I don't like the hassle of changing insurance as I have a car with pages of mods. Nothing that spectacular, but they seem to want to ask about everything.... If its worth 70quid then next year I will look into changing.

What do they count as a car club? Would membership of the Scottish Motor Racing Club count?

Si.

The policy I have just taken doesn't use my NCB that I had and it was still cheaper. So now I have a 5 year NCB doing nothing. It's good for 2 years so I have 2 years to decide on my next toy purchase.
