Air cleaner help/swap
forgive me here but the 350 I’m swapping in my 84 Z28 has an open style air cleaner. Would it be possible to reinstall the factory dual snorkle set up the 305 came with? Or is that too restrictive? Probably asking why I want to consider that, I dunno to preserve some of the OE look I guess. Holley 650 carb on the new motor if that means anything. Open to other ideas as well but that new air cleaner is UGLY!

How much power will the new mill make? There are tradeoffs for both. With the open element you get plenty of air, but it is hot air. The snorkel assures cooler air, but maybe slightly restricted. If the new motor doesn't make that much more power, the dual snorkel system is probably fine. You can also use your butt dyno to feel if there is a difference.

Considering the air cleaner on an original LT1 (350 with 6,500 rpm redline and 780 cfm carb) was more restrictive than the HO set up, you will be fine, and getting cooler air.

Re: Air cleaner help/swap
Depends on the carb.
If it's yerbasic 4150 or 4160 like a 1850, or a 3310, or an actual high-perf one, it won't fit. It'll hit all sorts of parts of the top of the carb. However if it's a 4165 or 4175 (spreadbore) such as a 6210, then yes it will. Can't tell in the photo.
