ESC module in a 350 TBI??

Okay I am seeing different things can anyone PLEASE clear this up? I have a 92 305 tbi i am upgrading to a 350 tbi. I am going straight to another tbi because less needs to be done for the swap. Also the tpi and tbi bone stock I found had similar horsepower. It doesn't matter to me. Anyways, I keep hearing from some people you need an esc module for the swap and others are saying its in the prom for my year. Can anyone clear this up?? I have the ecm that is interchangeable between both engines just not the prom, I confirmed with the parts store I bought it from that it was the same ecm for 305 and 350.

I Will say this, I called GM and they said ONLY the 305 5l had a knock sensor, he said there isn't one for the 350 tbi 5.7s. He also said only specific models needed an esc, he said it's not listed for the 92 at all 305 or 350 unless people are meaning the ignition modules
When I called around for parts they were able to find a 350 tbi knock sensor so gm was wrong but it's telling them that the esc isn't for a 350 tbi for my year so is my esc controlled in the prom for my year?

These guides on here are saying otherwise and I am insanely confused.

Re: ESC module in a 350 TBI??

I used the knock sensor and ESC module for 90 Chevy truck 5.7 liter. Works great.
LXE6. That is the correct 350 ESC module.

I do not know what to think when People say something along the same lines as in your Post above...
Who exactly did You call?

Did You call GMPP/ Chevrolet Performance Parts Customer Service?

Did you call some random Parts Counter Clerk at a GM New Vehicle Dealership?
Did you call an Engineer from GM CCA (Customer Care and After-Sales)?
...Some CEO from the GM Head/ Home Office?

What does "Calling GM" mean?

Don't call for an Engineer at GM SPO....
(They all got laid-off/ moved to Mexico)

It's just me left...

Re: ESC module in a 350 TBI??

VortecIroc, I can't direct reply on mobile but when I called the dealer they transferred me to someone who can lookup/sell the parts for the vehicles. What that means, I've no clue. They just said when they checked their "system" that it showed the esc wasn't on 350 tbi's and that the knock sensor was only for 305's which I called bs on. I am going with a bone stock 1800 dollar 350 tbi from autozone/Oreilly same engine from what I can tell. I am not sure if it's the caprice one and in which case I would need the bigger fuel injectors correct?

My concern is, if I get an engine and then am not sure which esc/knock sensor it uses. Are all 350's the same in that regard? I assume which one you need depends on the internals and bore sizes and stuff. I am newer to this and frankly am not sure where to go since no stores I check with can even find an esc module for a 350. I did find one on hawks/jeggs sort of websites just not sure which to get.

The same distributor can be used between the two engines though right? I am getting my current one replaced.

Re: ESC module in a 350 TBI??

I gave you the part # for the ESC. I've done the 350 TBI swap trust me. I will try to find the part # for knock sensor. 305 knock sensors go with 305 esc. 350 knock sensors go with 350 esc. But.... May not be a huge difference as I've heard many people have ran the 305 sensors on 350s with no problems. To be safe I run the 350 sensors.

Will ALL 350 Tbi's take the same sensors though? Some have much higher horsepower and I am not sure how they differ. If that's the case I will go see if I can get that part number saved you gave me. I must have missed that # sorry about that! Life has been crazy and I'd be lying if I said my mind was all there. Appreciate the help folks!

Re: ESC module in a 350 TBI??

They are between 170-210hp. I couldn't find the # for the knock sensor but I just told them knock sensor for 89 TbI 350 truck. I did for sure give u the right # for the ESC though. To be honest even if you put the 305 sensors in you would probably be ok..but not optimal
