Porject car T5 issues

new to the board here.
ive got a project car im running an L67 swap in with a T5 from an S10.
the problem im having is that the S10 shifter location is WAY too far forward and im trying to figure out how to change the location rearward like the F body T5 variant. the problem im really having is sourcing parts. are there any particular Fbody T5's that wont interchange? anything to stay away from? ive seen plenty of people swap from a F body shifter to an S10 shifter. will the swap work visa versa?

lastly, i have a 26 spline clutch that i want to use. is it relatively straightforward to change from a 14 spline to a 26 spline with the shorter carrier?

it took me until just now to find the tranmsission section of this forum. i was pretty sure there was one but mustve scrolled past it 15 times.

I had to learn alot about T5's when I mounted one behind my LSx

4cyl and V6's had different gear ratios than V8 versions, so swapping the input shaft isnt possible

Tailhousings must match NWC to WC, so an old trans cant have a new housing

What BH are you using? All 3rd gen and S10 T5's used the old SBC flange on the front of the trans case. 93-02 V6 Fbody trans used a ford flange on the front of the case

V8 T5s were all 26sp, along with 93-02 Fbody T5's even though they were V6 units. All others (except the oddball astro) were 14sp units. To mix and match, just swap the clutch disk

Since your L67 has a 60* BH bolt pattern, why not use a newer 98-02 Fbody T5? 26sp input, correct BH, HTOB, electric VSS, rear shifter, common in JYs. Only issue is starter location, but if you're clever enough to mount a FWD engine in a RWD application, that should be cake

Yes. The WC and NWC can swap but the lube splash piece has to be swapped or something. Frankly I would look into having the closest ratio unit possible given the application. Not convert a wide ratio unit. Oddly, a V8 Fbody gearset and 93-up F case would be ideal as long as input length worked.

you would be dealing with matching the headset gear tooth count, and length.

My S10 trans is a close ratio unit. Plus it was CHEAP and easy to find replacements. The fbodys are hard to find in my area. I did figure out the clutch issue. The last thing I need to do is swap the shifter location. Anyone have a broke t5 I can purchase the tail housing and cover from? I would need the oil sling and extended shifter rod with them.
