How much engine?
So I just got my WC T-5 rebuilt, and im sure that ill be replacing the 175,000 mile L03 in the next year or two. Im not trying to have it rebuilt for obvious cost reasons. I am curious what the most engine I can put in front of my trans without risking its integrity. I AutoX and drift race this old machine, so something that can be modified to be more responsive is a must. Any ideas?

Re: How much engine?
Was it a stock rebuild on the T5? The general rating I've seen (give or take) is about 300lb/ft tq is what these transmissions will handle. You go over that and it's gonna come apart. Whether it will handle more than that or for how long....... can't really say. Maybe some others with more experience putting power to these trans can help.

Re: How much engine?
I'm not sure about WC or not but GM never put a T5 behind a 350 engine because it made more torque than the 305 and could easily break the T5. Some people have had good luck and many have been broken. It's your call. Up the power level of the engine and roll the dice to take a chance.
The T56 has a higher power level and survives a lot more abuse.

I know the T5's are only good for 170lbs of torque. The WC I doubt is alittle less than double of that. The main issue which can't be fixed, is the cases flexes.
