Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Nice build so far!! I love the color of that iroc and the story of saving it from a jy. Cant beat that!
As for your front springs...are you sure you clocked them correctly or that they were clocked correctly before you bought it? That would cause the issue your seeing there. If those are stock iroc springs there is def something wrong.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Well, I tried to fire the car yesterday and I have some major wiring issues. After cranking for a
couple seconds the negative battery cable started smoking and a brake line welded itself to the header. I also have no power to the ecm. I believe both are being caused by poor grounds. I will redo them and see. I just hope I didn't burn anything up.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Okay, so I ran my ground cables again. No more smoking or welding. The car cranks much better but I still have no power to the fuel pump. Also when I jumper the fuel pump and try starting it, it backfires fires through the headers but won't start. So more work to do. Any advice on the fuel pump or how to trouble shoot the ecm would be appreciated.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
You might try your other cars ecm and memcal to narrow it down. If you put a volt meter or test light on the dark green/ white wire on the relay or a1 of the ecm turn the key on and you will have power for 2 seconds. The relay ground is tied into the grounds behind your passenger side cylinder head. The orange wire to the relay will be hot all the time and goes to the under hood fuse. Bye jumpering to you mean jumping the oil pressure switch ?
The orange to gray or do you mean applying power to g of the aldl ?

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Progress has slowed again. When I realized the car wasn't going to be ready for Ocean city I decided to tackle a few things on the convertible and take it instead. I'll wrap the 89 up when I return from vacation.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Got it idling on it's own but it's surging. Don't mind the smoke in the vid. The p.o. must have painted those SLP headers with regular paint because it's bubbling and burning off.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Played with the timing a little more and it's not surging so much. Had to buy a new battery charger. Advance had a 200 amp Schumacher for $124.99. Found a promo code for $50 off when you spend $125. I threw a $2 roll of shop towels in my cart to make it $127 and got it for $82 including tax.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Thanks. It has some clear coat peel in a few areas so I'm just going to spray the whole car. The interior needs the most work though.

Re: Junkyard 89 IROC build
Thanks. I've been preoccupied with my SRT4 lately but it just rolled out of the garage today after a complete engine swap. So maybe i'll have some time to get back on the IROC.
