454 bolt to a t5?
okay so i have the big block and my original t5 trans well i was just out in the garage and i got my flywheel torqued down and clutch put on but the bell housing will not fit over that flywheel? like the bottom of the fly wheel sticks out the bottom atleast two inches. i know that the tranny is going to blow up i realize that but i just need it to get me going for now. any ideas to what the problem might be? i can post pics as well if you guys would like to see. thanks alot jake

The 454 uses an off-balance 168 tooth flywheel. The T5 bellhousing only works with the 153 tooth flywheel (neutral balanced). You need an aftermarket bellhousing. Even a stock 454 will break the T5 though.

Re: 454 bolt to a t5?
I had a 350 with 58 cc heads with some mild porting and a .410" or .430"? (if I remember correctly) lift cam and I killed a worn out T5 in no time. I lost 2nd and 3rd gear the same night at the track and broke two trans mounts within two weeks. And that was not at all a powerful motor, pretty torquie but it died after 4500 RPM. Was awesome to have 3.73s and that T5 behind that motor though!
