427 or blown 383?
Right now i have a sbc 350 flat top with a 144 weiand blower and runs a 12.4 @ 113mph. Its not and ideal blower motor and am running 4 psi. The blower is good for 8 psi. with the right pistons and cam. The 350 wont last for ever and I dont know if it would be better (powerwise) to make a 383 with blower pistons and the blower or a 427 naturally aspirated. I really like the blower but its too small for a 427 I think. I need to do some homework. Either way I go the motor would be built on a aftermarket dart or world block. What combo will make more power??
Thanks
Thanks

I'm too lazy to look it up, is it a roots blower? If so, go with the blown 383, I'm a sucker for a v8 with blower whine

i would probaly go for the 427, not the adverage engine for these cars, makes good hp/tq right off the bat, and you can sell the blower to put towards profit of the 427. theres also nothing like the rumble of an big block

I would go for the 427. It may not make as much power (though it could) as the blown 383, but I think it would be much cooler. It would also give you a much better platform for making crazy power down the road. You may not be able to run the 427 blown now, but later on maybe you could afford a better blower setup.

Re: 427 or blown 383?
383s are making some pretty good power these days. Its a popular choice. I would go with a 427 honestly. You wont make the power like a blown 383 will but down the road you will and you cant beat the sound of a big block with a nice heavy lift cam. The bigger the base the better so get your hands on the biggest base motor in your $ range. You never wanna get yourself stuck with the words" I wish I went bigger". Then you could always toss a blower on it down the road.
I have a 350 right now and am looking into doing a 454 swap down the line. But, I'm not done playing with the 350 so I have some time yet.
