Header to Fuel Line Clearance

I just dropped my rebuilt 350 into my Camaro. I'm swapping from a 3.1 and the header on the driver's side is very close to the fuel line. How much clearance should there be to prevent the heat from the header causing a fire? I have maybe 3/8"-1/2" now. I hate the way heat-wrap looks, but if it will help, I'll use it. Since it's hard to explain in words, pics are below.

Re: Header to Fuel Line Clearance

undo a few of the screws holding the lines to the subframe, then hand-bend the lines at least an inch away.

Re: Header to Fuel Line Clearance

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I just wasn't sure how far apart they needed to be.

Re: Header to Fuel Line Clearance

The brake lines should be ok. I believe they are all at least an inch away from the header, but I'll double check them tonight. I'm planning on breaking the engine in on Wednesday, my main concern was not having an engine fire from the fuel lines being too close to the headers. Especially since my garage is under my house.

Make extra sure your upper radiator hose is really secure, I had ine come loose, and a half hour later I was in the ER getting my second dose of Morphine for my new second-degree burns all over my face, neck and chest. It was a new hose with a new chrome water neck. No more chrome for me.

Re: Header to Fuel Line Clearance

I haven't put the radiator back in yet, but I'll definitely check that. That doesn't sound like something I want to do. I'm reusing an old water neck with new clamps so hopefully the corrosion on the neck will help keep the hose in place. Hot coolant will be almost as bad for the house as an engine fire.
